P-229 ASE Un-Fired for $2800 shipped.....is that the going rate

I have a real bad problem with Stainless Steel Pistols.... I have someone willing to sell me a new in box P-226 ASE Elite shipped for $2800.....

The gentleman will not budge and from my understanding the ALUMINUM FRAME isnt the more sought after piece.... I believe it to be overpriced.... I sold a few pistols that I loved to get my next purchase.....

Deal or no deal?????

Even at 1/2 that price it's definitely straining the top of the market. $2800 is crazy.

Too much….But… He could probably get at or near his pricing on GB. Is his SSE also unfired?
I agree with everyone else. I literally did a double take on the price.

I recently saw a P229 SSE in the classifieds here for 1599. It might still be there.

He's smoking crack at that price.

As said previously, way overpriced.

Here's one on GB that is 3 days out and $1,300. It's very similar to the gun pictured below, serial # puts it as made right before the know P229 SL 40's, though it doesn't have bull barrel, adjustable sights, extended mag release, and lacks the usual short inward slant (taper) on the slide going up to the muzzle.

Some of the more rare stainless frame Sigs are going for more than $2K, especially new in box with target etc. An example being the P229 SL 40 Sport, (bull barrel, adjustable rear sight, extended mag release, triple serial #) with an estimated 50 made and brought in only by small importers, though I have one with no importer stamp. These were Custom Shop guns, made during the time they were also making the P229 Sport in 357 Sig (with aluminum compensator on which the front sight was mounted). Not original grips in pic:

There is no way I would buy an ASE for $2800.00. Heck I would not pay that for an SSE, even now. Especially, when I bought my P229 SSE new for $1075.00 and a used LNIB P220 SSE Carry plus 7 mags for $800.00. Also, never been a big ASE fan. However, I am a big SSE fan.

If you are willing to spend $2800 for an ASE. For $200.00 more you can get a P226 SSE new/old stock at....

ARMSLIST - For Sale: SIG SAUER P226R SSE 9MM SEMI AUTO. (WE26R-9-SSE)
A lot of people see white and shiny stuff and just fall for them. These ASE SIGs are simply nothing special alloy frame guns.

It also shows a lot of wear for a "Factory New Condition" gun. 🙄

^^^^ True! ^^^^

I questioned the seller, said he bought it new and only put two mags through it. Shame he doesn't show the barrel smileys, but the mags show a fair amount of wear, and it has too many light scuffs to qualify as a safe queen.

I bought an P229 SSE this year for way less than that. It was used, unfired and I paid $1200 for it.

Yes the SSE is unfired
