I wouldn't mess with the recoil spring at all. And I tend to read more about problems with that DPM thing. The recoil assembly on the 10mm is pricey, but it works.
Didn't you have a Legion? I think the trigger is fine on these guns. Shoot it like it is for a while before messing with things.

The gun was developed in consultation with Bruce Gray who spent years making expensive 10mm conversions on P220s (which consisted of way more than a slide swap).

I have this Sig in the P220 45 version. I have kept it stock and love it as is.

I have a 220 Legion in 10mm yes
Congrats. Nice pistol. About all I would do initially is put G10 grips on it and put the originals away.

Since you plan to shoot it, I’d dress it up with a little bit of Armory Craft bling!!

As said… I would mostly leave it as is but.. put on some piranha G-10s. And maybe different sites..
I have a 229 SSE and that is how I set mine up..
I got a better grip on it and sites…GL and enjoy
Being a SAO, I would get a dual adjustable Trigger, as a minimum, to remove as much take up as possible, as well as over travel. With a SAO, even I like "straight" triggers as there is such a short trigger stroke needed for a discharge.

I have to agree about questioning need for a replacement Recoil Spring/Guide Assembly.

I do however believe G-10 grips are superior to the Rosewood grips, for control of the pistol, but then again you need to employ what best works for you!

Also, if you are considering a Short Reset Trigger, be advised, acquiring the necessary parts can be a "nightmare"! It requires a P220 Legion Trigger Bar, and Special SRT Safety Lever, besides the common SRT Sear to be usable.

I think Milos is doing srt for the 220’s now.

OP,
The DPM recoil system for a SIG P220 R 5 10mm is JUNK,plated hardware springs included.

A GGI dual adjustable curved trigger is easily modified if one prefers adjustability...but requires more mechanical abilities than removing E2 grips.

As Willard eluded,SRT take up & over travel with the correct trigger bar & safety lever is not,can not, will not duplicate the DA/SA functionality in a P220.

Of all SEVEN models of P220 R 5 10mm in possession, the Emperor Scorpion (DA/SA) & Ugly Duckling Kryptec Camo (SAO) are my "working stock" as others have been relegated as safe queens & appreciating on a daily basis.

I’d second Willard’s comments. My pistol control is usually rock solid and first range visit with my P220 SSE with factory wood I had one get away from me. Round went down range but I know it was VERY high. Those stock wood grips are beautiful but fatter than a Waffle House waitress.

Armory Craft has had a SRT Sear that would work for quite some time. It's the unique Safety Lever, that is required for the SAO , even though this packaging only shows for P226, it's required to work

If a better recoil was possible the gun makers would use it.
The DPM is junk

I would break the trigger and gun in.
Then talk to Robert Burke. He can remove the take up, and do a beautiful 4lb trigger.

wow everyone! thank you so much for all the knowledge and wisdom! I did not know any of this prior. I wanted to:
1. put either a flat trigger or adjustable trigger
2. armory craft take-down lever.

i want to shoot this....but i paid a pretty penny...
Why not shoot it first, and then see if you feel that it truly needs anything? It's a perfectly aweome pistol right out of the box - any 'need' for changes would just be personal preference, imo.

I mentioned in a previous post that I sent my P220 10mm to Robert Burke for a competition trigger job. Mine had a heavier pull than I liked but what bothered me the most was the gritty pull. Robert smoothed it out to a nice 3.5# pull. I also installed an AC dual adjustable flat trigger and a AC Sport Takedown lever for a bit better control with my support thumb and an AC extended mag release.
This is my favorite gun in my safe, the extras just make it nicer. Your gonna love it no matter what you do with it. Shoot it for a bit and you'll know what you need to make it fit you.
