I did exactly this with my P229 Legion last year and had the same experience - it worked perfectly, with only a little fine-tuning of the RDS required. Very happy with it, and it's nice piece of mind that I have an entire spare slide assembly if needed.Last week, I took up SIG on their offer of a replacement P229rx slide with suppressor height sights and the SIG Romeo 1 Pro installed. The discount was considerable, and it worked out to be a great way to get a slide with suppressor height sights at a low cost considering the value of the red dot.
It was literally a drop in replacement for my existing P229 slide. I originally had a P229 E2 Elite basic model with rail, and had added a SIG manufactured threaded barrel earlier which was also a drop in replacement for the original SIG barrel.
I swapped the P229rx slide, with the threaded barrel installed, dropped in the solid recoil spring guide rod I use and recoil spring and installed it on the P229 E2 host frame and all fit and locked up exactly. It cycled smoothly, and after oiling and properly lubricating things, it was off to the range.
A slight adjustment to the red dot was all that was necessary to put it exactly on target, and from that point on, it shot exactly where the red dot indicated at ranges up to 15 yards (limit of that range today). I used 115gn and 125gn reloads in my testing.
So, I'm quite satisfied and now can easily swap out my E2 slide with original barrel and the P229 suppressor host as setup with the Romeo 1 Pro.
