New Sig P210 Target

We just got our third Sig, a US made P210. I used to target shoot and heard nothing but good things about the new P210 and I was excited to try it out. We currently have two very good shooting 9mms we used for target shooting, a worked on 92 Beretta with adjustable sights and KKM match barrel and S&W 952 so our expectations were high. I had some health challenges that delayed me getting to the range until yesterday and Murphy's Law got me some as well. I had some of my best handload 9mm ammo laid out to take but of course I picked up the wrong box on range day and did not see the mistake until I was at the range. The one load was not great but a 147 FMJ load was doing better so I adjusted the sights for it and then hung a target at 25 yards. This was the first target I shot with the P210, a 10-round target. There were absolutely no surprises, wherever the sights were when the shot broke, that is where the hole appeared. I can't think of anything that needs improved on this pistol. The grip is good, the trigger is about perfect, the sights are good, and it is lights out accurate. This is a very good pistol right out of the box and a bargain for what you are getting. We are very happy with it.

I also have a P210-a target and believe it's one of the finest production pistols available today. In many ways it approaches the precision of hand tuned target pistols.

As with all new high precision firearms, it does take a little time to wear in. take the first 500 shots and allow this to happen. Don't over clean the pistol during this time. I use a bore snake to remove coarse debris from the barrel and oil and wipe down the external surfaces, but basically let the rest of the action work itself in. It feels smooth from the factory, but that gets even better as the parts move against each other during this break in period.

It's remarkable that such a high precision machine can be made without extensive hand work. That is the miracle of the modern machine tooling available today, and the engineering that is applied by mechanical manufacturing engineers that know how to use it.

Glad to hear of your first time out experience with the US made 210. I've had Swiss, German and now the US made 210, and admit I was one of those who assumed that an American made 210 would be a very mediocre approximation of the earlier Swiss and German guns. I was wrong. The US examples are finely fitted, reliable and accurate pistols. I've been enjoying my US 210 Target version for a few years now. Enjoy yours.

I've kicked myself for not having picked up the Swiss and then the German gun back in the day. I am happy to hear that the U.S. guns are proving to be worthy of the 210 legacy.
This is the third Sig for us and each one has been very good overall. The trigger on the P210 is truly match grade. Using weights, it released at 3.75 lbs. I then backed the weight off to 3.5 lbs and it picked up the weight 5 times in a row without releasing. I then put 3.75 lbs on it and the trigger released 5 times in a row without fail. That is very consistent.
