Newbie here – my first post
1st - Thank You to all who have gone before maintaining our 2nd amendment rights. I joined the NRA before purchasing my gun.
I have thought of purchasing a hand gun for a while. Started searching and investigating seriously about a month ago when a friend indicated a similar interest. Two weeks ago we got real serious and purchased an hour of semi-private instruction at our local range (Heritage Guild, Easton, PA) where we tried several different type and caliber handguns. I really like the comfort level of the Ruger MK 3 22lr but also had been researching the Sig P226 22lr (which no one had in our area). We did get to shoot a P226 9mm and found it very comfortable and my friend purchased one CPO on the spot. He also got the 22lr exchange kit. I was intimidated by the 9mm and did not see myself wanting that power and expense for a while, but decided the P226 was my gun. Finding the gun was pretty hard, no one stocked (22lr) it in our area, many said they could order it, few really could guaranty how quickly I would have it. After numerous gun shop visits, calls to gun shops and internet research I ordered it from In Site Fire Arms Jeffersonville, PA. They procure their guns through Sports South who is a distributor. From the Sports South website they were able to show me that there were 25 in stock and confirm the gun would be shipped within 24 hours. I ordered the gun Thursday and picked it up Saturday - less than 48 hours later. I found street prices on these guns to range from around $500 - $600 plus, with a retail price of about $675. Getting exact details on the gun seemed difficult - I guess because there are so many variants. My gun was made in NH Aug 2012 and came with 2 mags. I paid $559 plus tax and fees.
I have cleaned the oil off the gun and manually ran a dozen dummy loads through it and it worked and ejected perfectly. Tomorrow we go to the range. Plan to shoot CCI Mini Mags exclusively based on reputation - but experience will affect that plan.

Hello Robert, and welcome from Missouri to this great Sig forum. Good folks and info here! Sounds like you have a good plan in place. I grew up in eastern Pennsylvania near Allentown-Bethlehem.
