New gun, just because

640 Views 26 Replies 18 Participants Last post by  copfish
I’ve never owned a Beretta but I bought this one just because. Not very practical. I will never carry it, sights are almost nonexistent. But it’s cool. I was sorta, kinda considering a suppressor but with a wait time of a year I passed, at my age I think twice about buying green bananas.

The wood grips look nice but they are very chunky. The gun came with one magazine. I ordered a couple of extras and at the last minute added a set of OEM plastic grips. Feels better to me, not as thick. I’ve been waiting for the magazine, planning a trip to the range tomorrow. I’ll shoot my quota of 9mm then wring this out.

Mrs. Tinyman really likes hers -- doesn't take her long to send 100 rounds down range.

That one looks like a .32acp? I considered the .32acp but went with the .22 rimfire because I wanted some cheap to shoot. Beretta is offering a $75 dollar rebate on both guns.

For a pocket gun, I had the 22lr..Beretta Minx..in the mid 80's. As with all of my carry guns, when it's range day, which is my backyard, I shoot it directly out of carry mode. It 's good for establishing confidence in the gun. Well, this one went click (after three weeks in my pocket) and got sold the next day. No more carry rimfires for me. I went with the Seecamp .32 rather than try another Minx in .25.

I used to be a big fan of Seecamp until they were bought out. My most recent Seecamp was a .380 acp. The slide literally beat the receiver to a pulp. I contacted Seecamp and was told that was “normal”. I sold the .380 acp
Seecamp at a loss. I would still like to find a .32 acp Milford Seecamp.

That looks terrible. I got my .32 very early on. You could even request a specific serial #. Mine is really perfect and it's fun to shoot.

Cool new gun, I wish gun makers wouldn't write stuff on the slide like "read manual before use".

Know what you're saying -- safety last is my Montra.
I have the same gun and I’ve had a hell of a time with mine. First model showed up and the mags would not lock into the gun. Would drop mags literally in the middle of shooting. Sent it back to Beretta and they ended up sending me a brand new gun as a replacement.

This second iteration had a defective barrel lever (the one that releases the tip-up barrel) that would not move, and when it did the barrel would not spring up like it’s supposed to. Minor issue in addition to that, but the wood grips were definitely mis-matched rejects from the spare parts bin. One is a rich brown and the other is so dark it’s almost black. Not a big deal but annoying. And the mag they sent back with it wouldn’t even fit into the gun - the reloading lever was out of spec and stuck out too far.

Very frustrated, I sent the gun back to Beretta yet again and they repaired the lever and replaced the mag. Came back with the same grips tho. Oh well, mine is unique I suppose.

All that trouble for a small low capacity gun I will never carry, doesn’t suppress well at all, and has sights so horrible you can’t expect any degree of accuracy out of it. Will probably end up as a trade or sale at some point. Hope you have better luck with yours but this gun does nothing but anger me when I see it 😅

I’m a Beretta guy from way back. Below is a pic of my Model 21A (“Bobcat”), in 22LR. Back in the day, these were made in both .22 and .25 acp. While I have a similar .25, it’s an older Model 950b “Jetfire” (no safety).

The current “mouse gun” in .32 acp, is Beretta’s Model 3032 “Tomcat.” It’s much more “clunky” than its little cousin. I recently sold mine, after acquiring two sleek Model 70 “Puma” versions from the 60’s.

I believe that the new iterations of the Tomcat like the ones posted above, are being made only in .22

“Just Because” is, IMHO, the best kind of purchase…..

I got my suppressor a few weeks ago. Now I'm thinking about getting one of these again.
Sounds like a solid piece of junk Ben.B

Do you mind sharing how your wait time?
Do you mind sharing how your wait time?
I bought and filed forms for 3 suppressors on the same day. One was approved at 264 days, one at 282 days and one at 297 days.

If you are interested in wait times there is a tracking thread on the r/nfa reddit. They start a new thread every month. This is May's.

https://www.reddit.com/r/NFA/comments/134v3po
They also have a system you can enter your information and it goes into a cool dashboard.

You can sort the data by clicking in the boxes, for the lastest averages click in the Approved Month 5 box and only the data submitted in may will be calculated. If you want to see just trust data click on the trust bar int he Median Wait by Entitiy near the middle.
