Would a new factory 226 barrel in 40sw fit in my German frame Exeter slide 226? It is a 40 cal slide.

Yes. It's the same barrel.
But, there is always that disclaimer, "may require minor fitting".

Cool u think it would be good to get a spring kit, replacement barrel, and short reset trigger kit to start fresh with it? Oh and guta have nite sites!

I prefer the finish on the old barrels. Save your money.

Get a 357SIG barrel and a parts kit. The parts kit has replacement springs. Now you will have a gun that will shoot two calibers.
