New 365s sights/when did they change THAT?

1485 Views 15 Replies 9 Participants Last post by  halfmoonclip
Took a buddy, and his brandy-new 365, to the range. I was expecting to not see his OEM sights in our indoor range.
To my surprise, his gun had an electric green circle surrounding the night sight. It was easy to pick up, even in the mediocre light.
I've gone to Dawsons on a couple 365s, because the older night sights were not especially easy to see.
Are the new sights available from SIG?
Thnx,
Moon

Likely the XRay3 sights. I like them too. Having them out on my P238 right now
Are the Xray 3s different from the older OEMs?

Siglites like on the new P365 380 which aren't as good as the XRays. I changed the Siglites on the 380 to Night Fusions.
Yes the Siglites were the older style. Still offered or some of the lower priced pistols

The XRay3 sights are way better than the siglights in my opinion. In the dark, the later is brighter because there are bigger vials, but I’d rather see better in the day than the night

I bought my P365X last November, born on was October. It has what I would call "electric green" front sights, I'd say?

Actually I quite like them; after years of using red fiber optics, or orange Trijicons on various Glocks, HKs, Walthers etc. they are the first sight configuration that I haven't routinely taken off and replaced by aftermarket.

Obviously beating a dead horse, but it is nice to buy a pistol with usable steel night sights out of the box and not have to buy and install new in place of the crappy plastic dovetail protectors that come on some manufacturers slides (cough lookin' at you Glock cough). :)

Hate to admit it, but I'm rather fond of those 'dovetail protectors' on my G42.... ;) If there were steel dovetail protectors, like the poly ones, I'd buy them.
The OEMs on the 365 never showed up well, in good or bad light. Loved the gun, hated the sights.

Okay, think I'll order some X-rays for at least one of my 365s...
Now, which ones do I need? I've misplaced my originals, so I'll need both the number (6or8?) and the parts number.
Thnx, gang.

Just took my 365 to the indoor range for the first time a couple days ago
Range was well lit where targets were, inside the shooting booth I couldn't see the sights at all. A post in the front & blacked out in the rears.
Shot well enough for as often as I get out, happy (Very Happy) with the 365 but sights sucked to me.
Used to Trjicons on my Shield that I had installed.
In a room in the house today, pointed it out the window across the sunlit yard and didn't see any sights except for what I saw at the range, lowered it to aim at a wall in the room and saw green front sight & blacked out rear sights.
This normal?
Not uncommon to see sights in silhouette against a bright background; in fact, when shooting Bullseye, it can be a help. But if you don't actually have light on the sights themselves, it's tough to see them. Night sights aren't much help, unless the room is nearly completely dark...which makes we question their value. What good is seeing the sights if you can't identify the target?
Often like fiber optic front sights, as they can gather some ambient light.

Anyway, still need the numbers for those factory sights.

Since nobody has answered your question, I will do my best.
I seem to remember that the P365 has a 6 on the front and an 8 on the rear.
I cannot say that with 100% certainty.

Fellers, thank you, thank you.
Ironically, as it turns out, I did find the take off OEM sights (it seemed unlikely that a pack rat like moi would have tossed them.) They were all bagged and tagged among my spares.
And, really ironically, the take offs are X-rays; my first 365 had the really wishy-washy night sights. Guess I just changed everything to the Dawson fiber optics. I'll change at least one gun back to the X-rays, and see if I like them better than the Dawsons.
BTW, you are entirely correct about the numbers.
Thanks again,
Moon

As stated, the xRay3's are nothing like the SigLites. Not saying that there aren't sights out there that are better, but I have no problems seeing them during the day.

Here's a couple pix I took a few weeks back. Obviously this is not during the day or in bright light... but in pitch black with and without the flash.

Think ya' got enough SIGs there, Jubal? Wow! :)
Actually, been pleasantly surprised with the Xrays; found them easy to pick up in the mediocre indoor range lighting. And they are actually somewhat useful in real low light conditions.
Happily, they came right back to zero on a quick range run.
