Okay. So I needed a 5th P239 like a hole in the head but I encountered a private seller who had this P239 and of course at the right price so having no Sig will power, I ended up adding her to the collection. Amazingly good condition. Almost new. SA-406XX serial number. Came with 3 mags, box, manual. No target and no box sticker. Sig says too old to determine build date but manual has a 2000 date. It came equipped with those rubber finger grips which after initial cleaning, were immediately replaced with some G10s. So here is what I am trying to figure out. As I’m sure you’ve noticed in the photos below, it’s 2 tone with stainless slide. What’s the deal with the section of the slide that’s shiny/polished? Could this be original or and after market thing? Anyone ever seen this before? Thanks in advance.

It looks like the Equinox treatment on a natural stainless slide.

From an older post listing SN’s it could be 1997 vintage…

Aftermarket polishing.
That’s what I thought. Generally, I like everything to be original but I have to say, it looks really good. Better in person than in photos.

I like it, but definitely aftermarket polished, still a handsome pistol

That not the worst thing I’ve seen done to a pistol. It actually looks pretty good.

As I said, looks really nice but, could the polished area be restored to the natural finish if desired?

My P239 SAS has the natural slide with the anodized frame. There were rub marks and discoloration on the slide when I bought it (used), so I used a scotch brite pad to remove the marks and blend the finish. It doesn't take much effort to scuff the bright spots into a matte finish again. You may want to try it on one or more of the cocking serrations before attempting the slide flats.

I have one like it in 40 S&W that has a German frame Build date 02/20/2008 Serial # SA4 136XXX sticker says 239-40-TSS-G Mine was New Old Stock when I purchased it off of GB in March of last year. But it does not have Rubber finger grips. It also included a holster.

My first thought would be someone trying to remove holster wear but there doesn't appear to be any frame rubs/wear so that's not likely and more just someone with different aesthetic tastes.
Looks decent, nice find!

I would guess the sticker on this P239 would be similar to what yours has. I have a 2 tone P229 twin of this gun with a TSS-G sticker.
Whatever it is, I really like it. Nice find.
