My newest Sig - M11-A1

Air gun Trigger Gun barrel Gun accessory Airsoft gun

New to me (and said and appears to be NIB) but born 5/2017. I’ve gone from a relatively recent thread I started about streamlining and possibly consolidating into a single model (P320) that could have entailed selling some of my other non-320 Sigs (MK25, P229 Legion and P365) to buying another metal Sig. I need meds.

I welcome any thoughts and feedback. I’ve already spent some time looking at prior threads about
  1. mods (I’m holding off for now, as my other P series are not modified - but maybe the E2 grips, and FO sights for my aging eyes);
  2. holsters (I’m liking the Milt Sparks, which would be my first - but hung up on VM2 vs other IWBs); and
  3. comparisons to other P229s (although I can share mags with the Legion, now I “need” more….)
Can’t wait to shoot it!

Nice score, all you need are some G10s a couple extra mags, a good clean/lube & ammo
FYI We expect a range report….

Nice, my favorite 229.

Mines a 2016 and has the 228 grips, looks like they phased that out in 2017.

228 or 229 grips on it?
Sorry for the stupid question - how do I tell the difference?
228 or 229 grips on it?
What is the difference? Mine has threaded barrel and these grips is that normal?

I've been loading up on ammo recently but now that I have another 229, I should at a minimum order some "extra" mags. Looks like the best deal is around $40 before shipping.
Before I start (yet another) holster thread - the Milt Sparks VM2 seems to get a lot of love, but the Summer Special 2 looks like it would be a bit smaller for AIWB, especially if I'm wearing in the summer. If anyone has experience with both, please let me know.
Beautiful gun! Mine has the 228 grips.

Nice......I have an old version of that gun. It is one fine shooter. It will stay in the family.

Congratulations! While I bought mine new several years ago, on 26 July 2016, from Gander Mountain, it had set on warehouse shelves for a while, since it's DOB of 17 October 2013. It has been a reliable shooter;)

Nothing, except the left grip panel originally was "P228", as marketing gimmick, fooling a lot of people to thinking it was a P228. Then a few years later, SIG changed it to "P229", because that's exactly what it is, a P229.

Congrats on your purchase. You are in for a treat!

Those factory grips are a little slippery, IMO.
I use the Hogue rubber grips on mine but many people don't like them.
People complain that the rubber can catch on your shirt but I never seem to have that problem.
They also have a little more girth but I have average hands and they are no problem for me.

Besides grips, you may want to consider a Super Strut from the Sig Armorer.
It noticeably improves the trigger pull, at least, I think it does.

If you find the trigger pinching your finger on the frame at full stoke, you may want to try a different trigger.
I chose the Armory Craft Slightly Curved Dual-Adjustable Trigger. I love it but triggers are a personal choice.

These three mods to my M11 made a big difference. I loved the gun when it was stock but now it is even better.

Congratulations. It's a great gun, but I have large hands & just couldn't get along with the short reach trigger that came with it. I immediately changed to a Gray Guns dual adjustable trigger.
For a holster, I use the Milt Sparks VM-2 for IWB, or a Garret Industries for OWB.
I also changed the grips to Hogue G-10 checkered.
