They give you the smaller legion controls (which I hate)so I went back to full size!

Front and rear slide serrations means it's an Elite slide.
The frame is black hard coat anodized. Not Nitron.

Oh ok thanks for the education👍🏻
can U by any chance answer the original question??
The pins only need to get replaced when work is done to the slide. For instance changing the firing pin or firing pin spring. They are provided in maintenance kits so you can replace them if you take the slide apart for cleaning, regrease, lube of the firing pin. Most folks won’t tear the slide apart to clean till they get firing pin problems.

Edit: to take apart the slide you need a half round punch. Either you create one or buy one.

Are the two slide pins for the 229 identical or are they slightly different in which case what’s the difference?
And they are A PAIN IN THE *** to put back in. I’d recommend having someone do it that has done that before, or there’s a good chance that you will scratch the heck out of your slide, trying to get that pin back in.

Yes. P229 “Selects” do come with Legion controls and brown G10 grips. My P229 Select is different from the norm as it was made specifically as a part of a SCOTUS PD special order. The order called for E2 grips and normal (larger) controls. Build date August 2018

If you're talking about the roll pins (half-round, one large & one small diameter), SIG says replace at 5K rounds.

Do P229 Selects usually come with a Short Reach Trigger?
You’re right! Never noticed that on the Selects.
