I bought a Mini 14 the other day. First trip to the range was a bit disappointing in that the front sight was difficult for me to pick up in the range's low light conditions. Approaching 60, my eyesight isn't what it used to be either.

The range day was cut short when the windage adjustment set-screws for the rear sight vibrated loose allowing the sight to spin like a pinwheel. At that point I packed it up and switched over to my handgun for the rest of the session.

Anyway...I put a laser in the bore and got the rear sight adjusted and locked down but was still having trouble picking up the front blade sight. I went on Amazon and found some "Glow On Super Phosphorescent Gun Sight Paint".

This may not be for everyone, but I really like how this looks through the peep sight. What you see here is 4 coats. After the first coat I was disappointed, but every coat dried brighter than the coat before.

I'm interested in how this works at the range. In any case the price was right, and I have enough paint left to do 8 or 10 more guns probably.

Creative solution. Seems I've seen that glow paint at one of those arts/crafts stores too.
I take it you taped the sides of the blade prior to painting?

No. It comes with a small flat wooden applicator. Kind of like a 1/10th scale popsickle stick. I just free-handed it onto the blade face with the stick.
