MPX K opinions

3293 Views 23 Replies 15 Participants Last post by  KGX2012
So I was at the Sig Pro Shop today and really liked the MPX K model. Not really knowing much about the PCC world, I was hoping to gather some opinions from other users.

I'm thinking about thinning my heard down and putting the proceeds towards purchasing one.

Is it a solid performer? Magazines readily available? Ect...

Thank you in advance!

I have an MPX K and I love it. It’s my favorite gun to shoot. Mags are readily available although expensive. It is extremely accurate. It’s a tack driver at 25 yards and even does good at 50 yards. I directly threaded a Sig ModX9 suppressor on it and did not lose any accuracy. It did not like the Trilug mounting option tho. This gun is worth your time to consider.

As @TacoJoe said, the gun is an absolute dream to shoot! It’s scary accurate with very little recoil. The OEM brace is more than adequate. They’re a bit pricey, but worth it in my book. Accessories are readily available.

If you’re in the area of the Pro Shop, I live about an hour away (near Laconia). You’re welcome to come up and give mine a try if you’re interested.

Here is a great thread to look at. Basically asking the same thing you did. It’s a fun, fun gun.

I've seen very few opinions that differ from the above when it comes to the MPX-K. And those few people are wrong. ;)

I love mine (Gen 3). It's been totally reliable, has a great trigger and is certainly one of the funnest guns I own. Just beware that it has a bottomless appetite.

Mine has never been a "tack driver", and I had to invest in an ILWT barrel to be able to hit anything with my trip-lug suppressor mounted. Honestly it dosent see much range time these days. More often than not, I'll take my MP5 clone instead.

See if you are getting muzzle strikes also check the barrel screws if you are getting strikes you need the taper adapter for your muzzle device

There has been confusing torque values on the barrel screws. Revision 1,2 and 3 of the OM showed 3 different torque values. I confirmed with Sig via email that the proper torque for the barrel screws is 30 inch pounds which is shown in the latest revision (3) of the OM.

How do these stack up against the B&T offering? I feel like the Sig and B&T are the best in class modern PCC.

I own an MPX K and I’ve shot an APC9 Pro. They both are great guns. I liked my MPX K better because it felt a little softer shooting, I liked the ergonomics and I shot better groups with the MPX K. Either one tho is a great gun and super fun to shoot. You can’t go wrong with either. I’ll attach a great video review of the MPX K.

Better check that--ltest with the carbine version. Doubt the k would be different

What revision manual is that? I was told by Sig all models should be 30 in lbs. which is shown in revision 3 (the latest) of the MPX OM.
MCX torque for 5.56 NATO is 60 inch pounds, so don't confuse MPX 9mm with the MCX. The MPX torque specs changed from the fist generation to a lower spec due to damage to upper receivers. The torque specs were lowered from 40 inch pounds in the old back manual to 30 inch pounds for the MPX in the current white manual.

I use mine for popping steel targets and bowling pins. Most fun I ever have
Sig rep from another site confirmed 30 inch pounds. Talked to Sig boss also after phone rep acted like a carnival ride operator speaking to a 5 yo and same thing, 30 inch pounds. They are sending me two new screws though. I also noticed the newest MPX K comes with a simple booklet that just has safety warnings and you need to scan a bar code to get the manual and register.

I just took delivery of a MPX-K from the SIG Academy Pro Shop Sunday - it was on order for two months because they were changing over to THRiL magazines. I haven’t gotten it to the range yet, but I’m liking what I see. it will be Form 1ed after my move to TX in a few weeks.

I personally am not happy with SIG’s magazine supplier change - there’s nothing a bag gun sized PCC needs more than a big honkin’ 35 round magazine, right? I’m hoping the Lancer made 20 rounders remain available.

The 20 round Thrils are available via Sig's site. What's odd is nobody, even Thril has them on their site

How about a range report? How did it run with the new mags?
