Mounting a Trijicon RMR to a p320 xcompact spectre

3416 Views 11 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Bigjoe7757
I am getting an xcompact spectre and want to use an RMR on it. The spectre has the blanking plate that pops off, leaving the rear site still attached. I was hoping that the rmr would simply mount onto the holes that are exposed once the plate is removed, Sig says the gun is rmr ready. Has anyone tried this specifically?, If so can i still co-witness, or do I need to buy another plate or other stuff to make it work. Thanks!!

It should mount directly without the need for an adapter plate. The X-Compact Spectre is drilled for Romeo1PRO/Deltapoint PRO/RMR.

However, unless you already have optic-height sights on your X-Compact, I don't believe the stock sights are tall enough to work with any of those optic options. You will need different sights if you want to have back-up irons.

Yes the Spectre is rmr ready, however, because it’s cut for several optics it leaves a gap in front of the rmr. C&H precision makes a spacer plate that fills this gap, gives you the special 6-40 screws that are needed and also gives you recoil lugs to help stabilize the rmr. I believe it’s totally worth it to get this plate, I’m running one on my Spectre carry build, it’s looks better and I feel better knowing it’s there plus the screws seems pretty strong composited to others I have used. Just one note, the screws are to long and will need to be cut down.

Thanks for the help! The C&H spacer plate is out of stock, does anyone else make a similar one, or should I just wait for them to have them back in stock?

Thanks
A friend of mine is waiting for one as well. I don’t know of anyone who makes a spacer plate other then C&H, just mounting plates for slides. The good part is you can mount your rmr and then once you are able to get the plate just add it. I assume sig tested and intended it to mount rmr this space so it’s ok to mount without. I do believe it’s so much more secure with the plate and looks a ton better so I wouldn’t run long term without one. Also remember the screw size is 6-40 I believe ( check online) and ensure the screws are not to long to interfere with the extractor spring. I had to cut mine. Note a lot of people use the 6-32 standard screws and mess up their slides.
Good to know that without the plate, there is a slight gap when running the RMR. That would nag my OCD.
The gap is one big issue but not having recoil lugs is another. By adding the plate you correct both. The plate fits firmly into the slide with lugs of its own which press into the top of the slide and also by the front and back fitting snugly into the optic cut. I’m not an engineer but it appears to completely removes the optic forward and reward forces from the screws and transfers it into the slide. It’s a must have in my book, plus it looks like it belongs. Sig should just include diff spacer plates and screws with optics cut slides. I would be willing to pay a few dollars more to not have to source them myself.

Great insight @Bigjoe7757. Hoping to add a Trijicon RMR to one of my franken 320’s… recently acquired an AXG grip module and so far all three 320’s I own are full size slides; one standard (40S&W); one with a DPP (X-full) and another with just the factory optic plate (M17). Have C&H’s site saved for quite some time. Now for the other saving… $$

On order, thanks for the help. We will see how it works in a few days!
All installed, works great, shoots great. Only issue is, as people thought, the included sights are too low. So.. do you all think it’s worth it to buy new sights or just go with the red dot. If you think co-witness is really important any recommendations for replacement sights?

Depending on the purpose of the sig. For EDC / home defense I would personally get the sites replaced so I have back ups. For range use only I wouldn’t worry about it. I have a p320 with a comp and standard sites because I only use the optic, but my carry p320 has Ameriglo 181 suppressor height sites. Make sure if you get the 181’s you get the correct front site height for your application, I suggest emailing Ameriglo before ordering and ask which to buy. For installation I used Parker mountain machine. They have a service for $35 plus shipping and turn around was a week. Perfect install, I would totally do it again.
