MCX Spear Accuracy

2538 Views 9 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  ChaosHunter
Hi, sorry if someone else has asked this already, but does anyone have any info on the accuracy of the new Spear? All I find online is, gonna bring good accuracy. Well that's not really helpful. And as many people that have videos "testing" and shooting it, not seen a single one yet talking about the moa accuracy of the rifle coupled with the .277 cartridge. Anyone know anything about this subject?

At $8k plus and very limited qty. not many on this site have one. It’s one of those goodies only pro Youtube people get so they can look cool.

But how crazy is it that not a single person has shot a target and said look how it groups! They dump all these rounds downrange but nothing at all towards something definitive? Almost like they aren't allowed to talk about its accuracy? Can't be a coincidence.
I think that it is probably safe to say that the military thought that the rifle and cartridge were sufficiently accurate for military purposes. However, such new setups will lack data about best loads. Also, where would you get 277 Fury dies?

The lack of rifles in general circulation is no accident. SIG is protecting its new product release. A magazine review will eventually may come out, but YMMV.

I just remember when they came out with the new armor piercing round for the M4....very high velocity and penetration but it was a 7 moa round....but tha was considered acceptable ...

🤷‍♂️ I will just settle for a .308.

It has to be accurate enough to warrant the new NGSW-FC smart optic from Vortex.

Also... Dear God I wish people would stop parroting the $8k figure. That was just a limited special edition run.

The regular version will cost slightly more than the Virtus. Which will be expensive, sure. But not $8k.

And that’s all there has been so that’s the only price people know.

Spoke to SIG agent and only 500 Limited Edition SIGMCX SPEAR. Sold out, Ouch!!! SIG RAPTOR Pistol with Brace coming to civilians. In one year to 1.5 Years. I wanted the X5 because of the longer barrel. I wanted to get the performance out of the Hybrid ammunition and regular brass ammunition version. 400rds total. 200 rds each to shoot in my range in my backyard. I collect decades and shoot very little. I would fire 3x to 5x rounds Hybrid and get my thrill. Not impressed with sound suppressory performances. Would of preferred a good Tango Scope. Luckily I have rattlers in both calibers and thousands of rounds. As well as a SIG MPX GEN1. Love them all and will not sell for $10K each. Perhaps one SPEAR will become available. But having to inform the BATF when planning on crossing state lines. As well as where rifle etc are stored and owner only person with access. I understand and we love this stuff. Now going for $20K plus, no thanks. Cheers & Stay Safe.

Isn't the problem Can You even Reload 80K Psi Hybrid Cases?

They have standard pressure regular brass case ammo available. Can't find the hybrid which I believe the .277 Spears gas set up is designed for.

They were supposed to make 6.5CM and 308 also. It would be possible to feed and reload for those.
