I just got a new from the factory p226 Mark 25, and noticed a roll pin at the rear of the slide. I thought that was present only in the old sheet steel slides. What's that roll pin for?
The roll pin functions to retain the firing pin. A similar shorter pin hides under the long extractor of the newer P series. The MK 25 uses the older short extractor, hence the firing pin retainer has to go all the way through.
