Hello,

I’m new to this forum. I’ve been researching to purchase my first 5.56. I’ve narrowed it down to the Sig M400 Tread. What sold me was price and performance/reliability. I would like a rifle that’s very good out of the box, and under $1K. I am open to future upgrades, but want to be happy with a factory setup from the getgo!

I considered other brands, at a less expensive price, but I know I will only be disappointed and buy a ton of upgrades just to make it a decent shooter. (Like I did to my 9mm PCC)!

Any advice you guys/gals can give me would be greatly appreciated!

FFL here, and a personal Tread owner here.

The Tread is hands down the best DI 5.56 AR-15 for the price. Miles ahead of any AR to ever come from Ruger or Smith. 100% on par with FN. hundreds of rounds through mine, very accurate, mild recoil, excellent finish and quality components. Consistent rifle.

not sure, I was LE for 8yrs then transferred to the fire department. What’s the criteria to qualify, and where can I apply?

thanks,

TT
I'm sure that you can qualify for a first responder discount. SIG has the SIG Professional Program, and many dealers also have LE/First Responders discounts. You'll have to check each one to determine eligibility.

I've had a Tread for about a year and the only thing I've done to it was put on a SIG MSR red-dot sight and changed the stock to a MFT Minimalist. Last fall I was at a corporate shooting event and my Tread outshot a number of custom ARs.

I was just responding as this came up on my email! Thanks,

yea, leaning towards the SigM400 either way. It seems like the best value for the class that it’s in. I just poured so much money in to my Kel Tec Sub2K PCC, but I should’ve held off and purchased the Sig, but I’m super happy with it now, so it was worth the time and money spent, (just should’ve waited)

I’m in no rush to buy, just want to make the right decision. Wife doesn’t mind me spending money on firearms, she just doesn’t like when I make purchase after purchase, so I’ll wait a month or 2. Till then I’ll keep asking questions!

I went on Sigs website and found LE inquiry page. I sent in my past employment history, waiting for a response.

thanks again!

You should be eligible for the Sig APP program with your years of service as law enforcement. Here’s are two links to great examples of an APP sites. If you can use the APP program I highly recommend you use it.
