Inflation in the price of gun parts

I have been looking at SIG MCX parts prices as I like to keep basic replacement parts in stock. SIG has raised prices on MCX parts to the point of being outrageous. Yes, they say nothing will need to be replaced on the Virtus for at least 20,000 rounds. But will MCX pinned recoil springs go for 20K full power rounds? The MCX recoil assembly is up to $350 from $250 on SIG's site. For those of us with unpinned MCX recoil springs, MGW has them for $18x2

What kind of prices are you seeing for parts? Proprietary parts seem to be a trap. How are AR15 high quality (not made in in the far East) parts doing for folks smart enough to go with the generic AR?

I haven't bought any parts lately as I've been pretty stocked up for a while, but it seems the price of magazines have remained pretty constant.

With magazines from the more common manufacturers like SIG and Glock, there is some competition in magazines. For example, MecGar makes some replacement magazines that are as good or better than OEM. For the stuff without competition, the prices seem to be as steep as gasoline prices.

OEM parts have always been expensive, hence all the aftermarket suppliers. That said
I think it's a safe argument most aftermarket suppliers produce a superior part to the
OEM anyway. :)

MPX parts prices have been crazy high for a long time. Not a whole lot of aftermarket support.

Agreed, but I think the aftermarket will get there. MPX's have become crazy popular so it's
just a matter of time.

AR15 parts = 2006 Toyota Camry parts prices & availability

MCX = Ferrari

Economies of scale.

(Not saying this analogy is for the firearms themselves, just parts cost & availability)

As of now Sig does not manufacture any magazines. That is being changed in hopefully the near future.
