In order to run the Sig P226 and P229 SAO in IDPA ESP division the stock safety levers are to wide and the gun will not fit in the IDPA box. I can't remember what the stock overall dimension but it needs to be less than 1.625".
At local and Tier 1 matches they don't usually do the equipment check for gun sizes and chronograph but at Tier 3 and regionals they usually do.
I have an extra set of safeties that I cut down for the P226 and P229 to fit in the box. They weren't hacked with a dremel tool, I made a fixture to hold them and cut them in a milling machine and then finished the edges by hand and had them cerakoted at my local gun shop. I removed the same amount of material off of each safety side. They look and feel professional. Overall dimension over my P226 is 1.595" as shown.
Cost of $50 will get them shipped to you.
