How does your significant other feel about your firearm hobby?

My wife has her own gun collection. She has an Oregon Concealed Handgun License and carries. She often asks me if we need more guns and ammo. We have been married for over forty years.

My is fine that I have hobbies. Shooting is fine. Her concern, if there is one, is the expense. I own more than a couple, shoot in a variety of matches, and load my own. Cost all around.

Mine is All For It. She trusts me with purchases - especially if they are investments.

She has tolerated it for over 34 years. As long as the kids had shoes, we had food on the table, the bills were paid and there was a roof over our heads.

This is exactly how mine is too. She gets jewelry, purses and boots.....I get my stuff. Works out great.

We are about even on guns, but to keep "the master" happy I make sure that I do not buy one more than he has - and let him know the inventory count! As far as $$$ spent: He plays golf also and that cost a LOT more than all the shoes I could ever think of purchasing! But I shoot more ammo than he does because we now do different kinds of shooting. He just shoots with a weekly group now, and my buddies and I do more extensive drills in our own weekly outings.

I feel sad for marriages where one has to keep secrets from the other - especially when it comes to managing finances!

It's not a hobby, it's a more than likely needed skill for the protection of our Republic sooner than later.

It's my duty to be prepared.

Wife is not into guns but doesn’t care that I have them. She doesn’t want one of her own but likes the fact that I carry when we are out and about.

My wife doesn’t ask…and she wouldn’t recognize a different gun in the rack/safe. That said, as long as my “hobby” doesn’t stop us from doing the things she wants, she doesn’t care. 😊

She’s totally fine with it. Likes to shoot too. Just doesn't want me spending too much money on it tho… 🫥

Wife and I compared handguns on our first date and then played video games the rest of the night 25 years ago. She told me to pursue becoming a dealer 5 years ago and helped me become successful at it. I am a lucky man I reckon..

I am the only income. If I really want something I buy it.

Mine could care less. She did buy me my first rifle almost 30 years ago, a Saiga, which ended up sending me down the AK rabbit hole, followed by Sigs and safe stuffed full. She's seen it all, including the ammo stash and all the magazines, and could care less. Never questioned or judged any of it.

Well as a single man no one to approve my purchaser's, but that said ex-wife loved going to the range.

She knows it is not a hobby.
