She would prefer I spend my money elsewhere -- oh wait -- I don't have a significant other -- never mind -- think I'll go buy another gun.

Is that Don't have one mean single or she doesn't care.
Single so I don't have to worry about it.
Women need to understand men have hobbies. Like guns and shooting, fishing, hunting or golf. If a man doesn't stay busy with hobbies like that. His hobby is probably seeing how many women he can score.
Sorry for calling out any players out there. Oh yeah they probably won't read this !

I do with guns what she does with shoes:
“Is that a new gun?”
“This old thing? I’ve had it for years.”

My wife has been shooting since she was a teenager. I got in good with her father before we were married by giving him some nice red targets to shoot at. He was having trouble seeing where he was hitting with his black targets and really appreciated the red.

My wife knew who she was marrying from the start. She knew I hunted, fished, camped, reloaded and shot guns. So, these days she expects a new gun coming in or a case of ammo showing up on the porch now and then. As long as the bills are paid, and I don't overdue the new gun purchases she doesn't care a bit what I do for my hobbies.

Some she knows, some I simply don’t mention or bring up. Mixed bag.

My wife of nearly 22 years has her own guns, goes shooting with me often, and has been out hunting with us a few times. She's most fond of my transferable MGs. So, I'd say she's pretty much okay with my gun situation.

Cheers!

My wife of nearly 35 years tolerates my gun addiction. She has also enabled me at times. However, one thing I have learned and learned well. It is easier to ask for forgiveness than it is for permission. Now, when I buy a gun, I just tell her it's for our grandkids and end of conversation.

WIfe doesn't shoot, but she understands my activity, and supports it.

I knew my wife was OK with my carrying when a scuzzy looking guy started up our driveway as we were starting down, walking our dog. He immediately turned around and walked up the street and disappeared into the woods. My wife asked if I was carrying and I said yes. She was happy then, and is happy now.

She agrees with my other investments and this is just another form of investing for the long haul...

I was in L.E. years before I met my wife. She knew from the start I carried on and off-duty and never gave it another thought. Now she has her own CCW, two different pistols and a PCC.

Mrs. Hodge isn't as passionate about it as I am, but she supports it. She's bought me a firearm, she shoots sometimes, and she wants to get her concealed permit.
