Just picked up this on GB for an unreasonable amount of money...anyone know why they're so popular?
I already have a P2000 marked 357 sig which is the only reason I wanted one of these other than the 90s USP feel

Because there weren’t very many of them out there to begin with and there was a .357 craze a few years ago so folks on the used market drove up the price.

My bro picked up one at a stupid low price before the craze started. As for me, I went the cheap route and simply converted my .40 compacts to .357 sigs via HK barrel swaps. The slide markings weren’t critical for me.

Gotcha. I've really focused on getting all my 40 cals converted to 357sig so I get it, but I must have missed the craze. Hopefully I won't regret the purchase.

It’s a HK!!! You should never have any regrets when purchasing a quality extremely well built piece of German engineering!!

Good for you, O.P.
A big reason why - among others why I don't mess with Sig anymore is their unwillingness to support their own cartridge the .357 Sig, which imo is arguably one of the best ever made.
They should've had the German MasterShop X5 in .357 Sig and especially so, the 229 SAO & 226 SAO in .357 Sig as well. It's just a shame they don't.
It's a fantastic round.

It's a sweet shooting pistol. I have a 3-n-1 USPc. Traded for it as a 9mm. Short while afterwards I saw a complete .40 slide so I bought it and then added an RCM .357sig barrel. All shoot wonderfully and the recoil in any of the calibers is very tame. It's spot-on accurate as well.

Have night sights on both slides and changed out the base plates to the flush fit. Gotta love a good DA/SA pistol!

Congrats and enjoy. (y)

Thanks everybody. Can't wait to have it in hand and test it out. I want to change out the mag release to the larger one found on the USP 45 and find some more mags for it..

Agreed with switching out the magazine release to the larger HK45C version. I’ve done that to all my USP’s and p2000/p2000sk’s. Makes a huge difference. Easy to do as well. I would suggest replacing the roll pin and spring while your at it. Cheap insurance.

Seems like when I bought the last one it came with both and I went ahead and replaced it on the P2000 I have.
Wheres the best place nowadays to get the kit?

I got all of mine from HKPARTS. Zero idea if it was the “best” place but when I got them they were in stock and shipped stock and all quality items.

I hope you're right! I just have a funny feeling 357sig is the next keymod which was my previous epic fail of gear focus.

Oh trust me, I was a huge fan and I'm holding out as long as I can with the rails I have left. I think it's a better design, but what do I know.
