Help with a Sig 229 .40

2763 Views 53 Replies 34 Participants Last post by  Sheepdogged
Hey guys , can you tell me about this 229 in .40 ? by picture only obviously. Saw this in my LGS store and the place was busy so I didn't have time to handle it. So are these pretty good and worth getting ? no box or papers but comes with 4 mags. I could google but rather have hands on opinion s right now. Thanks.

Sure is, wow, missed it. I missed out on one of these recently around this same price in my area. If you have the resources to get it I would. I could be biased though as I am looking for one myself.

Looks fairly well taken care of. In that price range and German made, buy it.

Too bad there’s no box, not a deal breaker tho, lightly used and 229’s are built like tanks. I wouldn’t have any hesitation about picking it up, the 40 round is not going extinct despite what people say.
If you’ve got a couple extra mags, that’s 80 bucks right there.

Nice mid 90's 229. Short Ext, no rail and legacy slide. $500 out the door and RUN.

Yup.

But with 4 mags even full price isn't a bad deal at that condition (from the 1 pic at least).

That's a good price considering it comes with 4 magazines. You can get a SIG case for $20 plus shipping. I paid $550 for a similar P229 (2008 vintage) with the box and 3 magazines two weeks ago.

Not only that, but it’s dropping in price. For the first time in years I bought A list FMJ 40 for less than I’ve been paying for good 9mm fmj.

That's a very early Nitron P229. The price is right. You should buy it.

The plum hammer adds character.

I've got one just like it AI 16XXX. It's a great shooter. The plain-Jane SIGs from back in the day were pretty fantastic. They're not as fancy as the Elites or Legions, but they shoot just as well.
