Hearing protection help

Looking for earbud type protection that are connected. I've been quite happy with the old style (non-electronic) type ear plugs like I've used for construction work for years, but some of the places I'm taking classes/competitions require you to have the electronic type so you can hear them talk without taking out the plugs......I get it.

I tried one brand from Amazon that were about $50....no bueno. A big PITA to use and didn't fit very well either. So now I'm searching the net for anything reasonable under or around $100. Brands include: Walker, Caldwell, ISO, Elgin, Etc.
Problem is they all have overall decent (4 star) reviews but a lot of terrible reviews in there as well.

Any help appreciated!

I have a couple of set of Peltor TEP200's but they are over a hundred bucks. That said I'm not a big fan and only use them for rifle and shotgun where cheek weld is important. They work fine for smaller caliber handguns outdoors even though the NRR is higher than a lot of solutions. I won't use them with my open guns, especially near a barrier or in a vehicle. I did try them under my normal active headset and let's just leave that at weird. I've never used the connected feature so can't comment on that.
I might be interested in some custom molded solution but then a gain I'm sure they won't be cheap.
Disregard Sorry. I MISREAD the OP.

I'm looking for the same, minus the connected part. I've grown to hate Amazon. Too many fakes, too many fake reviews, too much work to figure anything out since you have to read all of the bad reviews and then guess. Forums and friends are my goto for stuff like this. So I'm following this thread with interest.

Walker Silencer. I have a pair for shooting skeet/sporting clays and a second pair for shooting handguns/rifles indoors or outdoors. $86.71

Work great and they're amplified enough I can understand what everyone says in spite of the fact that when I'm not shooting I wear hearing aids.

I've even bought 2 spare pair in case my others go bad on me.
