The concern I have using a magnet to hold a weapon is the residual magnetism induced to the weapon. This magnetism will be a magnet to any ferrous particles floating around, introducing abrasives to your weapon. Dust bunnies from extended carry between cleanings is one thing, this is a beast of a bit different nature. Not a fan.
I bought some cheap rubber coated magnets off the internet for holding pistols.
I have 3 of them strategically places around the house, (1) holds an XD-40 and the other (2) have a G26 & G19.
I paid around $8.00 each, I can't charge the firearm with mine but I wouldn't have a pistol at the ready without a round in the chamber, so wouldn't use that function anyway.
No kids in the house so hidden is enough of a safety.
Hmm, interesting concept. Not sure about mounting it like that in a vehicle !
Would not want to drill holes in my console & having it down by your knees seems dangerous in an accident.
Guessing it would present legal issues in many states if pulled over with a loaded gun fully accessible & visible.
