Grey Nistan finish?

2530 Views 13 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  weatom
Saw this on GB. It's the LTT performance addition. Had to go to the Beretta web site
to find the finish type. Beretta is calling it a "Nistan finish" (not Nitron). The color is grey.

I then did a web search and there's little information.

Anyone know anything about this finish type? Durability? Why does something tell
me it doesn't wear well.

Reminds me of the CZ Shadows 2 in grey. All the used grey Shadows you see have
areas worn off.

Otherwise, gorgeous gun.........

I have a CZ SP-01 in their Urban Grey. It has held up well, but I'm pretty sure it's just a Cerakote finish...which isn't all that durable.

The Beretta finish looks more like a flat Nickel coating to me.

Yeah, some searches call it a "Nistan Alloy Finish" but that's Beretta speak. No real
specifics.

I'm not sure if the grey CZ's are Cerakote or not, but that'd make sense. You're right,
not all that durable but still a good finish.

I did a search and it's apparently an electroplating nickel finish. I'd say it would be pretty durable. It's a good looking gun. I may need to add one to my collection.
Yes, I was thinking "need" too. :)
It’s a Lipsey special edition

Here’s an earlier thread talking about the same gun
Jeeeez, what's with Lipseys pricing? They're $1475.00 on Landon's site. Same on GB,
(plus the obligatory 3% credit card fee)

Lipsey is a distributor, those are MSRP. Dealers can make their price what they want.

Got it.
It's a tin and nickel alloy (65% and 35%)

So it's a true alloy. Good information!
1475 seems like a pretty solid deal considering the LTT trigger work. That's tempting. It's a beast of a gun, steel frame 92's are just fun shooters.

It is tempting, I found one for 1295. The only thing stopping me is I can't stand the vertec grip, I feel like they ruined the classic 92 ergonomics, and that extra grip they supply isn't the same.

Yeah, the extra grip puts the Beretta "hump" back in the backstrap. I've heard both grips are cheesy.
But thankfully there's tons of aftermarket
