And second, do you need to use all the parts that come with the gen 2 slide release(beside the smaller slide catch assembly) or can you re-use the gen 1 parts?

I have not taken the gen 1 slide catch assembly out of my p320 yet.

As far as I know, the 1300891-R refers to only one part (the lever). The spring and the post are only included in the kit.

I'm not sure about the rest of your question. But I do know that the post from the Gen 1 P250 slide catch assembly will NOT work wit the Gen 2 slide catch lever. I would imagine the same is true for the P320 Gen 1 post.

I'm not sure about the spring, and don't feel like taking it apart at the moment.

OK yes, I meant the package labeled KIT-320-SCL, not just the one part by itself.

Yes it'll be fine. It doesn't hurt to put a new one in but if you don't have one it's no biggie.
