I made the mistake of asking the store mgr if he had any used Sigs...

So, after doing the paperwork, this beauty followed me home.

Congratulations! A wonderful mistake, since it's one of the last production from a period of about 1978 to around 2010, I believe! At least it's ramped to at least be acceptable for hollow points!

It feels great in my hand! Now I just need to find some mags. It only came with one.

Hey, congratulations. That is almost literally the last one ever made. The highest serial number I have seen is M676006, so yours was probably made a day or two before.

You might find decent priced P6 zipper backs out there still. Good luck in your search.

My suggestion would be to visit every gunshow within reasonable distance, and browse through some of the vendors bins. Not much available in quantity, that's quality! While Pro Mag may be a frustrating alternative for the range, try to find at least some P6 branded Sig made for any serious use. Check Gun Broker and ebay often, they do show up but normally at higher prices.

Great find. I bought a 225A-1 years ago and really liked it. When I heard the rumor that it was to be discontinued I picked another new one, have not fired it, and it lives in the back of the safe.

As for mags, Sig ran a discount sale a couple of years ago and had 225A-1 mags in stock so I picked up some back ups.

It is a little heavy for what it is and has a low round capacity...but...it just feels so perfect in hand and shoots so well that I forget about those negatives.

Just for your information... Parts Kit, P225, 9mm (sigsauer.com) , pricey but still available for the "German" P225, and not the US made P225A1...

It will also "upgrade" with a SRT Kit, and accept later strut systems such as the latest E2 system, for improved DA pull.

Thanks Willard! Just ordered the parts kit. Are you referring to the Superstrut from the Sig Armorer? I installed one in my M11-A1 and it definitely helped.

Yes, the Superstrut can be used with the short seat, and appropriate Mainspring. Either the OEM grips can be modified by grinding down 2 ribs on each grip, where the Seat sets, or get a pair of Hogue G-10s.

Edit... the ribs in red lowered 1/16" to 3/32" in thickness will work to allow grip halves to meet in the rear. My P6 with Short Reset Trigger, and smoothed up E2 Strut...

Here's some P6 magazines. Not a terrible price.

And here's an original P225 mag for too much $$$:
