FNX 45

I’ve never shot an FN, but I am drawn to this .45 I seen today at the shop. The P220 is my favorite gun, and .45 is my favorite caliber. I may try to find a used one instead of spending a little over $1400 after taxes and such, but I do want to shoot this little fella. I didn’t get a chance to put hands on it because I had to go to work and this place was slammed at the time.

You can find these guns everywhere usually around $99, that is way too much unless it includes a Red Dot... I owned one and overall it was a great shooting gun but not something I just had to keep, almost no aftermarket support and the trigger is absolutely horrible for $1,000 plus gun...

I’ve read that a lot in different posts and internet searches.

This gun and the H&K 45 tactical are about equal to me the only thing I liked about them was they are both Double Stack, if the P220 was Double Stack there would be no reason to buy anything else
I decided to go with a non tactical option. It was my carry gun for sometime. I love magazine quality and capacity. Plus the price is much better than tactical option. View attachment 527501 View attachment 527503
I owned one the Tactical FNX-45 - On paper it seemed great! It was a beast in size which was not the issue for me. I've owned a number of .45's. Glock 21; 30SF: 41MOS; Kimber Ulta Carry (the on that got away 😢) And I've never had the issues that I had with the FN. The FN recoil and accuracy was great. My issues - And why I sold it: 1) It hurt my wrist pretty bad when I shot it. I think the grip angle was too high so it would bend back my wrist when shooting. Never happened with my other .45's I've owned and never happened with others I've shot ... 2) The Combat Trigger and Reset (sounds good on paper) was way too far back for my liking. It didn't allow me to prepare for the next shot that well because it reset and stayed too close to the back of the trigger guard. It felt very uncomfortable for me and actually hurt my finger as well. I like the pull & reset to start about 1/2 to 1/3. For those reasons alone I sold the FNX-45 Tactical gun and got the Glock 41 MOS. Now I tried the FN-9 Trigger which seemed better and it's possible that the FN-45 (non-Tactical) might have a Trigger more to my liking(?) Don't know ... Aloha

Well. I may or may not to buy another FNX, but I know damn sure will never buy glock.
....I wish I’d have bought the P227 back then, but I didn’t want to spend the extra money on it. If I’d have known then what I know now about Sig, I’d have definitely saved a bit more for the Sig.
It's a shame the P227 never caught on. It's a superb firearm, and little more pricey and less available than the FNX-45. Why not just get the 227 instead?
Non tactical version here as well, I occasionally carry it, great gun. I did change the sights out to Truglo tritium pro night sights though.

I don’t have a 45acp
But if I did, it’d be the FNX 👍🏻

Maybe something to do with the 14-rd mags. - which are as scarce as hen’s teeth - going for $150 a piece! 😳

My FNX-45T is still holding up as my primary HD pistol after 4 years of duty thus far. While it certainly does not have the best trigger or ergonomics, it has earned it's place as my go-to nightstand piece due to it's toughness, capacity, and factory optics ready slide. The DA/SA feature is a huge plus for me, and it's a very good host for a can as well, rivaling my hammered HK's in .45ACP. My hands are larger than "average" and I don't have any issues with it's wide grip or controls, but I will say the FNX-45 is not for everyone. It's not a modern piece like the (pretty good) striker-fired FN 545 or other .45ACP blasters, but mine is a keeper. Only thing done to mine is a CHPWs plate, optic, light, and some +2 ext mag base plates. Reference pics of my FNX-45T and some other hammers...

Since this is a "SIG" forum, here's some additional pics of the FNX-45T next to the amazing P220 Legion (each w/ ext mag)...

Several years back I had Fn 45 tactical , it was very inaccurate and did not function well for me have not shot that model FN since. My other FN firearms function 100%.
I went by today, they did get in a used black one on consignment. Price on it was 900 plus tax.

Does anybody know if the 18-rd magazines for the new FN 545 will work in the FNX? Are mags compatible between FNX and FNH?
I've got a couple of fellow shooters over at the FN Forum who will know for sure. Working on it...
