FNX 45

I’ve never shot an FN, but I am drawn to this .45 I seen today at the shop. The P220 is my favorite gun, and .45 is my favorite caliber. I may try to find a used one instead of spending a little over $1400 after taxes and such, but I do want to shoot this little fella. I didn’t get a chance to put hands on it because I had to go to work and this place was slammed at the time.

FNX-45 in a tactical configuration, love the treaded barrel, and 15 round .45 ACP. I'm looking for my next pistol as a FN.

They're very nice. I snagged a used FN FNP Tactical 45 (the same gun just the earlier model before a very small changes) for just around 800$ (maybe a fuzz more but traded my used M18 and 200$ if I recall correctly.) It didn't have the bag or box, but had 2 mags. Maybe poke around and see if anyone is selling one of those for cheap instead? They take a different non compatible magazine tho is the main difference if I recall correctly.
They have a very cool safety, and decocker. Which is a rare feature on a DA/SA as they're typically either or, not both.
I need to hurry up and get a can for it under way. I'd love to hear it suppressed in person

Main reason I want to shoot it first is the grip looks large and rough. I want to see how it feels in my hands while shooting it.

Be sure to let us know when you do shoot one.

If I can find one to shot, I will give my opinion on it. So far I haven’t found a .45 that I like better than the P220, but I haven’t shot any 1911’s.

Yeah its remarkably slim considering all the rounds of 45 on board. I always liked them based on the asthetics alone. I was always reluctant to get one as I had sold off all my 45 stuff to get into 10mm. So I was holding out hoping they would sell a 10mm variant. Then my bud had this FNP for sale and I gave in finally. Then, quite literally the same week I caved in, they announced they was about to release a 10mm model lol. Just my luck. But, since I wasn't prepared for it and not being well read on the gun and my getting it so randomly didn't fully prepare me to how well it was made. So even tho it's a 45 it has grown on me.
In fact my bud that I got it from regrets selling it and we often discuss what to do for him to get it back lol. I bought 2 big boxes of 45 target ammo and I nearly had a stroke at the price at the register. So I kinda just put it up and haven't even shot it yet. I joke and tell him if he wants it back he better hurry because if I shoot it I may not wanna let it go back lol. So that's the only reason I haven't opened any of the ammo and shot it yet. As I want him to buy that too so I don't have 45 ammo laying around and no gun.
But... I guess that's as good of a reason as any to get out and shoot it and just make sure I shoot a whole box, or two! It's just a shame the price of 45 ammo is around what a hot 10mm sells for it seems.
So with all that said, yeah I guess I should just break it out and see what she does!

I have a non-tactical FNX-45...Love it! Extremely accurate, mild recoil, and fits the hand amazingly well. You won't be disappointed if you get one.

I had been looking at these for a while and picked one up with vortex venom which a swapped out for the Trijcon. I also got the DPM recoil reduction springs and a grizzly mini ghost comp. Almost no recoil with thus set up for a 45. Still dialing the recoil spring since I had some jammed with the lighter spring. Either way love the gun. Good luck.

I've had my FNX-45 Tactical for 10 years now and I'm still in love with it. One of my best shooting .45s, and simply amazing suppressed.

As for the FN's grip size, it's really not terrible. It comes with adjustable backstraps, so there's some degree of adjustment. Years ago I took comparison pics of the FNX-45 Tactical and a Beretta 92FS. You can see that the grips are pretty similar in size between the two. Yeah, the FN is a wee bit wider, but if you can comfortably manage a Beretta 92 series (or something similar), you shouldn't have any issues with the FNX-45.

Cheers!

I had one. Very accurate. Works fantastic as a suppressor host. The 15 rd mg capacity is awesome (for a 45 cal). It is a large pistol. My only complaint is the DA trigger pull. Long and rough. I never got good with it unless I staged the pull. The SA trigger was quite good though.

I have read a lot of reviews stating they hate the trigger but love the gun. Unfortunately I don’t think folks work on them like they do Sigs. Seems like Sig is easy to get triggers and things for, not sure about FN.

When I last bought .45 I bought it for around .40 a round, it is closer to .60 now I think. Once I shoot all I have I am going to cry when I buy more. I haven’t gotten into 10mm firearms yet. I’ve always had 9mm and .45, not sure if I want a 3rd size. I may try out a 10mm one day, might like it more than the .45 who knows.

I had and FNX-45 T and an FNX-9. Really hard to find anyone to do trigger work on them that can keep them carry-worthy. There's no aftermarket support for the FNX trigger. But like I said, the SA trigger is great! It's just that DA (when compared to how a Sig DA can be).

All that said, they are well made, very reliable, very accurate pistols.

I am looking for a new handgun in 45 Auto that is not a 1911 or 2011. The FNX-45 in FDE/Black is near the top of my list. I have previously owned an FNX-9 and loved it and I regret selling it but the funds went towards my beloved Dan Wesson ECO 9mm. But I digress. I am also considering the M&P 2.0 Compact, HK45c, and P320 Compact.

Yeah I sold off my Colt Railgun 45 and a bunch of ammo for just 2k before the pandemic. Had I waited longer I would have gotten dam near that for the ammo alone lol.
But, by doing so all at once I realized just how 45 isn't the best bug out choice. I had to load all the ammo into a roll around luggage suitcase just to get it all to my truck, and to the other guys truck as we met to buy/sell the stuff. So I felt better about making the switch as I felt like if I was going to carry the extra weight it better be hauling *** to make up for the tradeoff in weight alone. 10mm with the right ammo is just very impressive and can't be ignored as a good carry option/defense. If you're going big, go big I guess lol.
However!... I now have bought and own my first suppressor. Ever since doing so I rarely shoot my loud guns any more lol. It's just that addictive. I've even grabbed some 30 cal bolt guns since. So with that being said I do like having 45 back for that aspect as it naturally plays well for cans. This pistol in particular will make an excellent host for it also. I just need to hurry up and get a can that can run on it under way asap. Then the price won't feel so bad as at least they'll all be subs. That's pretty much exactly what these was made for anyways. So yeah eventually I'll have to buy that too now dammit lol

Those pistols are extremely accurate, as well as the standard versions. Just my personal experience.

Everyone needs one. I found mine on GB for $800-ish complete with 3 mags and a couple red dot mounting plates

I decided to go with a non tactical option. It was my carry gun for sometime. I love magazine quality and capacity.
Plus the price is much better than tactical option.
