Interesting article on TFB about a new weapon system from FN:

It is seemingly a SCAR 16, which is chambered in a new whizz bang .264 caliber cartridge.

"The IWS chambers the Lightweight Intermediate Caliber Cartridge (LICC), developed from .264 USA. The 6.5x43mm round uses a steel case, which FN America says reduces weight by 20% compared to equivalent brass. "

"The round has a two-piece, lightweight steel design with a stainless steel head and case body. a variety of loads have been developed with a number of different projectiles, including a 130gr Reduced Ricochet Limited Penetration round, a 109gr copper open tip match (OTM), a 120gr copper OTM and a soft nose 125gr cartridge."

It's using a HUX flow suppressor...they hinted there would be a new suppressor at shot show but didn't see anything new from them. Given the current available flow is a 5.56, this obviously has to be a new design.

Competition is good. The basics are the same but the execution is quite different between this and the Spear. Looks to be a longer barrel, monolithic upper that runs out to the end of the hand guard, almost like a nipped/tucked Scar, different controls. I like some of the Spear features, just wish it were significantly lighter.
