First Shots from P365-380

My wife took her first shots with her new P365-380 today. Before going to the range she took the gun apart and cleaned all of the grease out of it. There was a lot of grease when she picked it up at the LGS. After cleaning she lightly lubed the slide rails and barrel with Hoppes gun oil.

The gun functioned flawlessly with Precision One XTP ammo. She only put 50 rounds through it since she is adjusting to the recoil of the .380 ACP. She originally planned on purchasing a P322, but the Federal Punch .22LR (and every other brand of .22LR) ammo had a 2% (or higher) failure rate. She didn't feel comfortable with a caliber that wasn't reliable to fire, so she decided to purchase the P365-380 instead. We now have his (9mm) and hers (.380 ACP) P365s. We clean them on separate tables to make sure the recoil springs don't get mixed up. She likes the gun, but is still getting used to it.

She's using a 12 round magazine, so the grip is nice and long.

nice to hear, thinking about switching my wife to one, she can shoot 9mm but after hand surgery can’t constantly rack it

My wife likes her 380 with the xl grip.

The 380 is easier to rack, but not by a large margin.

I went by my local gun store and looked at the 365-380. The slide is easier to work than the 9mm, but by comparison my 238 slide is much easier to work than the 365-380. Mayber because my 238 is well broke in, or the 365-380 is brand new.
I need to compare it against a new 238.

My 9mm P365 was very stiff when I purchased it. It took about 200 rounds to loosen it up. I would expect the same with the P365-380.

It will loosen up but it will NEVER be as easy to work at that P238. I sold more of those sweet little guns for SIG than most gun stores, simply by letting other women try mine. It was a crying shame that SIG discontinued all but the CA compliant model, and I'll bet if they ever get the P365 on the CA roster that they drop that one remaining model. Shame, shame.

My one friend has a P238 and a P365 in .380. She still shoots the P238 way better, and maybe always will.
Been thinking about the 365 380. Will have to check it out!
