Finally ordered my dream gun!

Hi everyone, I'm new here.

I just ordered a Sig P220 and I can't wait until she gets here. I have wanted one since my days in the police academy in 1993. I was going to buy one back then, but since the departments around my area all were using 9mm I bought a P226 9mm. It was made in Germany but I've always wanted a P220 and I finally have one on the way...

When I get it I'll post some pics of it and my 226...I'll also give a range report!

What department were you on? I went through the academy in '71 . . . seems like forever ago, and I guess it has been.

Congratulations, and Welcome! Your story sound familiar, but in my case, I purchased both, back in 1990.

The department that I joined used P226s in 9mm at the time, and later P226Rs in .40 S&W.

The one thing back in '93, was the P220 used the non-rebounding Hammer that changed a couple of years later.

The newer P220s are a slightly different feel, than the earlier ones, but then again, so are the P226s.

Congratulations and welcome from Ohio my brother in blue. My basic academy weapon was a s&w 5903. This was 1991. I didn’t get my 226 .40 until 2001. There was one 220 in my basic class though.
