Photo ID is now required by Fedex for hazardous materials, i.e., primers. The driver will scan your ID...!

...AND...signer is required to be 21 yrs old. I guess 18yr-olds can go to war, preserve our freedoms, vote but not allowed to receive Fedex shipments...YEOWSER...! ! !

Hope this isn't old news...

It's interesting that the age of majority (and legal responsibility) is being discussed separately related to firearms and ammunition in the "negotiations" now taking place in the US congress.

Some would say that any separation like this is a pure matter of prejudice against guns, gun owners and an enumerated rights specifically recognized by the US Constitution.

Doing this against any other defined group in the United States would be a clear case of irrational discrimination.

Some would say that, in light of the Russian attack on a nation like Ukraine, such prejudice is foolhardy.

There is clear evidence (for example, 450 million firearms in civilian hands) that the American people are overwhelmingly trustworthy when it comes to having and using guns.

How did They know what is in there? Most everything I get that is sent Fed-Ex does not identify as Firearms related. Sig does require a signature when You order ammo though. The Ammo I've ordered in the past doesnot either,

Any ammo that is sent is supposed to be declared hazardous materials and get the correct sticker, so those shipments would dictate the signature and ID. A shipper can also request a signature, and I would also assume ID if they choose.

What do you bet some "ambitious" drivers just have a spare license they photo for every delivery? Who's going to match names to photos to signatures?

I've had more than one driver forge a signature on deliveries and just leave them on my porch -- including a rifle that was being returned from some repair work. They can add all the "requirements" they want -- they need to look at who will be enforcing them!

I've had 'sig required' ammo shipments and they never actually had me sign. Just left the box by the garage and the delivery dude 'signed' my name.

Telling that the very same clown show that wants to make gun ownership illegal until you are 21 (and made buying alcohol illegal till 21) is fine with 18 year olds going to war and getting shot/blown up & killed, wants to let 16 year olds vote & think 5 year olds should be able to choose their gender and as tweens get puberty blocker drugs without any parental notification

The last Fedex delivery that I received was my firearm from Sig that was serviced. I was home and he handed it me, but signed his own name.
I’ll believe it when it happens and actually enforce it. I had my 4K primer order from brownells which I “requested signature” stolen. The fedex driver signed up for me and didn’t deliver my order. I was so mad since I needed them.

Of course, it doesn’t help when the packing slip affixed to the outside of the box details what’s inside the package.

More the issue is they will now scan your id… who knows how long they keep the info and what else they do with it…!

I’ll just tell the Fedex guy to scan his ID for me since I lost my wallet.
Uh ...don't all primer and ammo boxes come with that red Haz-Mat sticker on the box? I can't remember one that didn't. I've never bought any primers to be delivered but I have had lots of ammo left at my door, but most all have come UPS not FedX and I've never signed for anything.

My most recent FedEx signed delivery (an RXP slide) the guy just asked me my last name and first initial. No ID required. But I’ve got ammo coming tomorrow and will report if the procedure varies.

Nothing to do with ammo but… I ordered a new Frame TV online and got an email from FedEx saying it will be here on Saturday and a signature was required. ( I guess because of the price?) on Wednesday it was left by the front door with no one home.

Lately when I get signature required packages all I see is the back of the guy walking back to his truck.

My ammo came today. Unfortunately the FedEx driver gave it to my wife (“this feels like ammo….🤬”). No ID check.
During the Covid lockdown drivers were allowed to sign "CD19" in place of the recipient's signature. Some are still using some kind of substitute signature for long-time customers with whom they are familiar. It's not kosher by FedEx guidelines but the drivers would rather get a finger wagging from management than upset a good customer.

Unlike FedEx Express, the FedEx Ground drivers do not actually work for FedEx. The routes are all run by third-party delivery companies under contract to FedEx Ground. These companies own and operate their own trucks but are contractually obligated to paint them in FedEx livery. The drivers get no pay or benefits from FedEx but are also contractually obligated to wear FedEx uniforms and adhere to a certain code of conduct. I'm sure there is a monetary benefit to FedEx doing it this convoluted way but it makes problem solving with deliveries more difficult by several orders of magnitude.

My company has an account with FedEx so I use them a lot for business, I have no complaints with them overall… Never a missing package or really even late delivery. My 1 issue was when my 320 came back from recall and they left it on my doorstep, I’m not sure if the driver signed for it or not???. I was home and expecting the delivery that day but I didn’t like that delivery.

I’m sure that he did. You can always check the tracking after the delivery and it will tell you the name of who signed for it.
