Cleaning the Nitron finish.

I just purchased my first sig its a p226 with the nitron finish. Are there any solvents or bore cleaners that i should not use on it? I have read that the Hoppes Elite takes off the nitron finish or can make it green. Is there any truth to that? I am new to nitron so how does it wear, like nails nothing effects it or should i baby it because it scratches easy or cleaners remove it?

Any advise is appreciated. I love the gun and want to keep it nice but use it at the same time.

StrikeHold with a dry cloth wipe down after a few minutes leaving a light film.

It's a tough finish. A silicon rag works great. Froglube will make it look new and nothing sticks to it.

I found the nitron to be tough and trouble free. Enjoy the 226.
