I was thinking of purchasing an aftermarket 4.5 in barrel to use on my SigMPX SBR which currently has an 8in barrel, but don't want to change the handguard to keep things simple and be able to use the original 8in barrel. I plan on shooting suppressed and unsuppressed and wanted to find out if there will be a problem shooting unsuppressed with the 4.5 in barrel and stock handguard. Thank you

Wear VERY thick gloves and wrap the hand guard in asbestos. ��

Thank you. Will it be ok with the suppressor on though? I'm assuming the handguard will heat up some due to heat from the suppressor.

9mm suppressors don't get near as hot as rifle caliber cans.
While I shoot mine with gloves, it's mainly for being able to check the suppressor being tight on the barrel (i.e grabbing the can directly).

I don't mag dump though my can though.

An AR can (5.56) can get very hot , very fast comparatively and i wouldn't consider putting one under the hand guards.
