Nice gun to own for sure. Why specifically 1988/1989?

Nice gun to own for sure. Why specifically 1988/1989?What’s the one you gotta have in the collection?
Mine is a very clean WG P226 from 1988 or 1989. Going to a show in two weeks with hopes of landing one.
Looking for a Herndon import mark? If so, a very early 1990 gun will also fit the bill. What’s the one you gotta have in the collection?

It was the first Sig I ever seen and shot. My buddy bought it new in late ‘88 and I shot it in early ‘89 while on weekend leave from the state police academy. Really good memories from that period so I’m figuring the gun will bring me back. I currently have an older P226R, but I need the original.Nice gun to own for sure. Why specifically 1988/1989?
Never knew they made one?I'd like to find a 9mm P220.
The P220 was originally in 9mm. But when the P226 (basically a double-stack 9mm P220) came out almost a decade later, the .45 ACP P220 (by far) became the most popular and in-demand version of the P220, especially in the US.Never knew they made one?
I figured there was a back story of some kind. I like gun stories. I still own the late 90s P226 that I carried as my first duty weapon. When ever I hold it in my hand the memories start flowing. If I see a good 1988/1989 out in the wild will shoot you a note. Good luck.It was the first Sig I ever seen and shot. Cool I can totally see that. Yes, usually a back story. My first duty sidearm was a 92F. I was the second to go through the academy with one. Finished up my career with a Gen3 Glock 19. Still have both.I figured there was a back story of some kind. I like gun stories. I still own the late 90s P226 that I carried as my first duty weapon. Never knew that. I can see where it'd make the 220 in 9mm a desirable find. The P220 was originally in 9mm. But when the P226 (basically a double-stack 9mm P220) came out almost a decade later, the .45 ACP P220 (by far) became the most popular and in-demand version of the P220, especially in the US.
I agree but a P220 in 38 Super is harder to find than the 9mm version.Never knew that. I can see where it'd make the 220 in 9mm a desirable find.
Maybe 7 or 8 years ago I passed on a 38 Super in the box at the Cabelas in Reno Nevada. It was a fair price at the time and if I remember around 6 or 7 hundred. I knew what it was and really came close to getting it but it just wasn't as high on my list so I passed. One of many that I passed on that are etched into the memory to this dayP220 38 Super. It's been my grail Sig for years.
I once owned a P220 9mm w/Euro mag release. Excellent pistol.
I didn't realize how many people want a P229 Legion in 357 Sig. I recently bought one in 40 and then got the 357 barrel from Sig. Not to rub it in but it shoots phenomenally well in either caliber.
