bought a used P224 ... was it a mistake?

found a used police P224 9mm. too good a deal to pass up. i read about some issues on the 224 having bad springs and jamming ... did i make a mistake? i also have a 226 and i like that it uses the same magazines ...

seems like it should be ok, but you know, waiting periods and all. did i make a mistake in getting one ?

The P224 was discontinued due to flagging sales, which resulting from reliability issues. Chances are you got the deal b/c it was too good to be true. Sorry, bro!

Did you make a mistake? Absolutely not! The 224 is the perfect gun for a person that wants a Sig with classic controls in a small package without sacrificing capacity. Unfortunately it just didn't sell well so that's why it was discontinued. For a time they were using a poorly designed extractor so the gun had a bed reputation but later used the updated version that fixed the problem. If you do have the old style just send it to Sig or buy the new one and install it yourself. My gun had the old style but functioned fine, I updated because it was cheap ($25) and it now piles brass about two feet farther than it did. I think if you don't mind the two finger grip you'll love the gun!

You can get the 12 round 2-finger mags for it and they also have 15 round mags with sleeve that will give you a full handle. I love being able to change the handle size accordingly to how Im dress and may print or not. With that said you quickly get used to the 2 finger grip and wrapping your pinky under it.

Like I told another guy here, better buy the short magazines while they are still available...They might disappear or get really expensive later.
I fully agree with this ^^^

ammuntiondepot was previously selling them used for $20m there like $45 new. I think I completly bought them out though... :p

You mean the flush 10 and extended 12 round magazines (.40/.357) ;)

But yes I agree the ability to go from a short super easy to conceal grip to a full size grip by just changing mags is such a great feature!

The P224, .40's had some issues. Not so much with the 9MM. P224 is a great gun sales just didn't catch on though.

No, you did not make a mistake.

I think you may be a little loco, Johnny. I do wonder, however, why the gun didn't sell well. If you'd be so kind.

It's a good gun, I have several thousands of rounds through mine already. Do you have one?

It didn't sell well probably because it was priced out of the range of the subcompact pistol market, probably didn't have a lot of LE takers either because of the weight. Otherwise, it's a great primary concealed carry gun because it shoots fantastically and is otherwise pretty compact.
