Hello,

We are pleased to announce we will be implementing a new method to send out site newsletters. The new newsletter will have a cleaner template and will be sent to participating forum members once a week. We have added an example below of how it will look. This change will not have any negative impact to current newsletters and will not lead to any site downtime. If you have any questions please post them below.

Update: Some users have expressed concern over "Threadloom" having access to their email information. Adding this to assure you that Threadloom is just a piece of software that we have installed here on the site, and all user information is still only kept in the forum database

Thank you

I have not and will not subscribe to that newsletter and greatly prefer that those so desiring to, opt-in instead of requiring the entire user base to opt out.

Part of the hope of the newsletter is to bring those users who may have forgotten about the site, to come back and participate. Having it only sent out to those users who have chosen to receive misses all those users, negating that hope.

For new users to the site, they will have the choice to opt in right from registering, but auto opting in for the existing community this was the easiest route that would still accomplish what we wanted

If I'm not mistaken, once you receive one, you'll have the option to opt out at the bottom of the message. Do it from there....if you do it from your Settings and Preferences, you'll stop notifications to subscribed threads and PM notifications, too.

Yup that is correct,

Your info will be secure, threadloom is a license that we bought to use. Think of it like Microsoft 365 package. It is merely a bot that will send out newsletter to users. User information is secured.

To add to this, the page that you're taken to when you opt out is randomly generated for any user that opts out. This means if you gave someone else the same link you got to opt out it would not work for them. The page is also secure and ran by us. There is no connection to a German company or any other company. We do use the Threadloom program to run the newsletter but as Ed mentioned, this is a program we bought the licence for and only we have access to files and member information. We take member information very seriously and keep it secured. We would never share it with a 3rd party or run a program that would require us to provide member information to another company.
