Armscor .22 Quality

It was Beretta 87 day at the range today, and as I was running low on CCI, I picked up a box of Armscor .22 for a price that I'm a little ashamed of. Well, right from the first shot, I noticed that it ran FAR dirtier than CCI. As in, I was feeling debris hit my face on every shot. It seemed to be decently reliable, with one stovepipe in 50 rounds and a weird failure that I'm not sure who to blame for, but it was just readily apparent from the shooting experience that CCI ran far cleaner. Has anyone else experienced this with Armscor ammo?

Never had a issue with Armscor in a variety of calibers, but never bought .22 cal.

I had a full case of Armscor .22lr HP and have been shooting it for some time now. it was 4 cents a round when I bought it. Interesting that 3 of us have S&W .22 compacts and the Armscor runs fine in mine but will not run in one of the others. As far as how dirty - in my experience, .22lr tends to be pretty dirty anyway you cut it and I clean my guns regularly.

I do have an occasional failure to fire, but have had very occasional FTF with CCI mini mags so I don't think there is one brand of close to regular priced .22lr that is absolutely reliable. As far as junk spitting out at you, I shoot left handed and that puts the ejection port in a bad place - particularly if you practice shooting from the hip. I had to stop doing that with the .22 after my neck was all marked up with little red sting dots one time. Right hand shooters don't have that issue.

When the Armscor is gone I'll probably not buy it again since I have some Aguila Super Extra left and have been pruchasing mostly CCI mini mags because "our" Mark IV won't run on anything else and hubby now takes that one to the range more than any of his regular guns. I also have some Eley Target which works really well, and a small amount of one other brand (can't think of the name right now).

Never used Armscor .22lr, but a couple of years ago, my wife had a crapload (probably 2000 rounds) of their .22WMR that she used in her LCR. Yeah, it was dirty, and the cases would stick in the cylinder where she had to tap the ejector rod on the bench to get them out. Once that stuff was gone, we never bought any more.
It’s OK. My kids and I shot 500 rounds of it recently. We had three duds. It’s accurate enough for plinking. If the price were right, I’d buy it again. I prefer a few others to it though.
Typical MOC fodder, nothing more.

Explanation please.

Never try Armscor .22lr..
it’s not very wise to buy ammos at the range
Walmart has lot of Federal Auto Match
Only $21.16 for a box of 325rds
Keep checking ..
I've used it in my Glock 44 and my M&P Compact. Also my Marlin .22 rifle. All with out issue.

I bought a bunch of this back when it was dirt cheap and I didn’t have good experience. It was dirty and inconsistent enough to be annoying. Now I’ll hand it out when friends come over and want to shoot at bowling pins. I wouldn’t buy it again though.

Ok, I can no longer say I have used Armscor .22 without issue. Sunday afternoon I shot up a 50 rd box with my Marlin .22 semi-auto and had 21 rds fail to fire. I grabbed a box of Winchester SuperX and shot another 50 rds without problem.
Well, that's interesting timing. Over the last two years I've picked up whatever .22 ammo I ran across ... you name it I probably have some of it. Usually if I'm just going plinking, I just grab a few boxes of the oldest stuff in the cabinet and shoot it up first. The next thing up on the shelf is about 2000 rounds Armscor I got at Rural King back in early 2020.

I'll probably try it out in a couple of autos and if I have issues, I'll just shoot it up in my single shot rifle or in a revolver.
I’ve never tried the .22lr but have used Armscor .22 mag. without issues.
I seem to get one dud Armscor .22lr round out of every 2 boxes. I shoot close to 100 rounds each range trip, and it is a rare trip when I do not have one dud round. For what I paid for the stuff 2 or 3 years ago, I'm not complaining since it is range fodder.

If you are still interested in this ammo, Dunhams Sports has coupons occasionally, and you can get good deals on it. If you have a Dunhams near you check it out.
