Armory Craft P226 Magwell and Strut seat

335 Views 8 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  ARMORY CRAFT
Does anyone have any experience with the AC Magwell? Does the strut seat work with the SA Superstrut? And how does one go about cutting a hole in grips for the hammer strut seat? This was a possible upgrade i keep looking at but i dont find too much on making a perfect cut for the seat to poke through.

This Mainspring Seat is made to utilize the E2 style Hammer Strut, so should easily accommodate the Sig Armorers Super Strut, as it's extra length is below the frame support lugs, to accept the screw that attaches the funnel. Of course your frame needs to be cut to accept the funnel as well.

Grip wise, you should get the P226 X5/X6 Series Hogue Grips that are cut to accept a funnel and fit flush with the top of the funnel... Extreme Series G10 - X-Series DA/SA Allround - P226 X-Series - P226 - SIG SAUER Grips - Handgun Grips - Hogue Products (hogueinc.com)

Here is how the grips are cut, to accept the funnel...

@Willard so as I understand it no need to make cuts to the P226 metal frame if I want to do this?

As far as what I understand, You can only do it on modern frames that have the cut already. If it is a new frame with the notches already, No modification to the frame is necessary.

No need for cuts to the frame, you just need the "ribs" at the bottom sides of the Frame, for the Funnel to slide onto... which later versions are actually a little longer than those shown below...

They are closer to the current frames which have created issues using older version grips, including G-10s, that are cut more like this... though the earlier cuts shown above, may be adequate, I would check with Armory Craft, to be certain .

Which is one of my P226 Elite SAOs, but newer frames have adopted this format, since late 2022. As I mentioned, what the funnel slides over, and is locked in place by the screw into the modified Mainspring Seat, as shown in the Armory Craft photo in post #2.

Earlier Frames, such as this one... will not accept the funnels...

All new SIGs (DA/SA included) now have the notch in the frame to accept a magwell.
However a lot of our customers with older DA/SA frames do this modification so they can use a magwell.
