I have a P238 that is 100% perfect purchased 7 months ago. Now I would like to get a P938 but do not like the right side safety that the P238 does not have. Are you having any issues with pocket carry. Do you like it, does it bother you in any way. Also Is there any other cure for the Sig bug other then buying more Sig guns. I know my wife will want one to. My own fault I turned a liberal into a gun toting conservative

I have both and the ambi safety on the 938 really does not bother me at all. Pretty much forgot it was there. Never causes any issues.

If you do a search on here, you probably will fine details on how to remove the ambi safety if you do not like it. I think you can purchase the parts for a 238 and simply install them but do the research first to be sure.

Someone with more background on that please chime in here?

Whoops, just after writing this I saw there is another posting by someone who changed the safety with the 238 but it is a bit tight.

I have both 238 and 938. I removed the right safety of the 938. Just buy the Sig 238 safety,It will fit the Sig P938. I ordered the part from Midwestgunworks.com

I have both. I love to pocket carry the 238. The 938 is just a little bit longer, a little heavier. You would think it would not really matter, but in the pocket it does. I forget the 238 is there, but not the 938. Still like both.

No problem with the ambi safety.

As vetman said, easy to replace the ambi safety on the 938 with the right hand safety from the 238.
I did it. No problem.

I have a P938 with ambi safety and pocket carry with no problem. Just make sure that the pocket holster covers both safeties. I also sometimes carry my wife's P238, again in a pocket holster.

I have both and removed the ambi from my 938. I found the right side safety dug into my trigger finger. I also had concerns about accidentally disengaging it if I bumped into something (I use it OWB frequently).

Here's what I bought ... item numbers will change base on the color you want. Mine is white steel safety, black pin. They are not expensive, no more than $20 from Sig.

Anyone have both P238 & P938

Mine is Sport13, came with 2 mags. It has been my edc for 3 years now, no issues so far with ~1k rounds down pipe. I love the size and weight of this 9mm! I get average 5.25# pull with some fluff and buff, only change is the Tillamook SS smooth trigger.

I just can't picture a more perfect EDC than a P238 - it's so small and lightweight that I slip it in my pocket without a holster and like Lesau, I forget it's even there. But that Sig fever takes hold. Gotta get another gun. P938? Still small, but still bigger and heavier. Then I figured it was just too similar to my P238, so that's why the P229 is now with me. Cool thing is, it has a rod green laser (took the Sig laser off my P238 to keep it simple), an Inforce weaponlight, and I ordered a threaded barrel & silencer. So am I a happy camper? You bet! Is it good enough? A Sig EX05 Folding Knife by Hogue caught my eye. It's on the way here. Maybe it's a good thing I'm broke.

I had a 938, traded it a few years ago. Recently got a 238. Like it a lot better!

I have no intention of doing any EDC moves this year as my p938 is doing just fine. That said, I bought my 938 this past winter, we just had a run of hot weather, I am wearing shorts and pocket carrying, and lighter and smaller as an option would be great. I had carried a .380 BG and it was barely perceptible for carry. A 238 is definitely on my list before next summer and I actually keep hearing the Nitron is a good choice and priced well. The 938 is absolutely fine but an option would be great.

Agree on the P238. Always had revolvers and the P238 was my first pistol (wife has one to). At first I just felt I would never have 100% faith in a pistol as I had with a revolver. But that has changed with the Sig P238. In the beginning fed wwb fmj fn perfect hollow points not so much.. So I stuck with the wwb 400 flawless rounds. Every time I used the gun it just got better and feeds HP perfect now (but still use WWB for carry. 100% confidence in the gun. I would like to say Sig talk has NO equal. No forum comes close. The amount of knowledge here is unbelievable. I learned soooo much. From how to lube and where to to lube. How to fix my wife's 7 rd mag dropping. (think first) photos on where to remove metal. To many others with opinions on Sig guns. A respectful forum that does not come down on a newbie for asking a question that everyone else may know except the newbie. GREAT bunch Woman and Men (yes women first my wife is right next to me and I do want that P938 :)

I have recently purchased both a 938 and 238. Love the both.

I don't mind the ambi safety on the 938. I have no problems with it in my pockets. I use heavier ammo (147 grain self-defense and 124 or 147 grain plinking), which softens the recoil even further, IMO. Very easy gun to shoot, and the sights are tremendous.

The 238 is a joy to shoot, but today was the first time I've shot it (just got it late this week). I actually shot it side-by-side with an old Star DH, which was built with Colt as a Mustang. I have to admit the Star is a little prettier, but the 238 was far more comfortable to shoot. Used 90 grain and higher ammo.

Of course, the 238 is smaller and lighter. Recoil is also even softer in the 238. I came to the 938 from a larger EDC, so it still seems very small to me. I prefer the slight extra heft of the 938 with the 9mm vs the 380 rounds in the 238. I also prefer the sights on the 938.

No snags or anything with the safety, though. I think people sometimes overthink stuff like this.

What is the weight difference between the P238 and P938? Just wondering if it makes that much difference. I have the P938.
