SIG probably feels the Carry, mid-sized P229, 220, 239, 224, are better suited for CCW.

The P226 gets the barrel length (TacOps 4.9"), though none of those models, as you note, are SAS. And none are offered without a rail, which is, in terms of looking svelte and suitable for concealed carry, at least as important as SAS. Both would be good.

Something like this would be a good start . . . most of the used P226's in 40 have rails.

Is it my imagination or is it a poor quality picture in the GunBroker listing? It appears to have mud rails. I have never heard of a .40 S&W P226 with mud rails.

It would help if the slide were removed for a full view.

I guess I just want a non-railed West German styled p220 with the SAS treatment.


I reckon I could try to pick up a cheap used p220 with no rail and have it dehorned/SASed, refinished in NP3+ and some sights and a little trigger work. But, she's be as much or more in price to a brand hammer new Sig. But, she'd be mine.......hmmmmmmm.

Sig needs to make their custom shop a TRUE CS, and allow you to order guns without rails, SAS treatment on any model, and other mods.

They used to make a 226 SAS, it would be great to see that option again.

I wouldn't want a full sized SAS. If I'm going to carry a full sized pistol I expect it to be sharp and pokey as a reminder that I'm carrying a full sized pistol.

SIG did make the P226 SAS a while back. Obviously, it's long been discontinued. So, don't expect any full-size SAS SIGs anytime soon.

I have a P220 SAS and actually like the size. Seems to shoot like a full size pistol and it carries nicely in a IWB holster. Not sure a full size SAS would be a good seller for Sig.
