Another What to Sell for Recommendation Thread

875 Views 10 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  Willard
Sorry to have to ask but I'm at a loss with this one. I have a never fired Sig P220 ST I'm going to sell. I am the original owner from about 2006 IIRC. Ser# G334xxx. It is truly new, never fired and never seen a holster. I have an heirloom 1911 from Alchemy that should be shipping in late fall and this will help pay for that. Truly beautiful gun but I haven't shot it and I'm not going to. I like my older P220 a tad better.

What is the right ballpark for this to sell? I don't want to gouge anyone but I sure as hell don't want to screw me either! As Terrel Ownes once said, "Love me some me!" ;)

Here again, do you have "everything" that came with it originally? Including the cheesy cable lock, Manual, and other literature. How about the "grip band" that was around the grip when "New in the Box", and the spare Magazines, still in wrap?

It's all about "presentation", while it won't command SSE prices, it could possibly bring in the $1500 range at auction. Here again, it will bring what someone is willing to pay... but unless you have "everything" I would think $1200 would probably be tops.

The full stainless P220 is no longer in production. Recent market trends show stainless SIGs going for good prices. Gunbroker is the best place to see current market values. As Willard said, presentation is important.

Yup. Take pics of it with a red velvet background and with you handling it with white cotton gloves. You're just about guaranteed to get triple the going rate that way.

What are the SSEs going for these days? I have a NIB P226 9mm SSE but am willing to part with it to fund/trade for a NIB/LNIB P220 SSE .45ACP. Would that be a reasonable trade?

Just look and see what they both are going for on Gun Broker, is my best advice. Again, each instance all depends on who is bidding, and how bad they want it. Between a P220 .45 Auto, and P226 9mm in exactly the same condition, I would expect the P226 to go for more, since 9mm is all the rage. A P220 in .45 Auto would likely bring more than a P226 SSE in .40 S&W, but not .357 Sig. in my opinion.

The SSEs NIB start over $2k in most cases, and I'm just generalizing. Gun Broker has tools, to get these results, but they charge you. Unless you have kept track of item #s, an individual will not be able to pull up the information themselves, in most cases.

Not questioning you. But isn’t that around the time period they started putting the blue wrap on the guns. I remember reps going around and doing that to distinguish new guns versus reconditioned guns. The blue vs the red bands.

Trouble is, the STs were available for quite some time, and Sig has a habit of changing what comes standard.

OP was wanting to sell his ST, for maximum possible amount. Even though he states it had never been fired, we all know what display guns may look like. Only 2 photos were shown, so we have to assume it must have been immaculate, in presentation.

Trying to sell to a collector, they want everything as it was originally, to bid the higher dollar OP was seeking.
