Aloha all Sig Sauer Enthusiasts!

Just want to introduce myself and say ALOHA.

Tomorrow, I will be picking up my FIRST ever firearm. :D A Sig P229. Just a plain Jane. But my friend says that it is a fine handgun for my first. If there are any suggestions or comments, to help a newbie out, please post.

If there are any other Sig owners or potential owners in Hawaii, please introduce yourself. Maybe we can go to the range and fire some ammo.

Aloha,

808SIG

P.S.-I'll try to post up a pic of it when I get it.:)

Join us in the 'not-so-gun-friendly' Aloha State!

Aloha Jaro,

We have warm weather, but COLD firearm laws. :( If you are ever gonna visit, please PM me at least a month prior, as I work three jobs and hardly am on the interwebs. At least it'll give me a while to reply.

For now, Aloha,

I know something about state or county not gun friendly. There is a proposal to raise more money for Cook County by adding 5 cent tax to every bullet sold. If it passes I may stop shopping in Cabelas.

Thanks for all the good vibes.

Mahalo for all the positive vibes fellow forum members. ^_^ If any of you have recommendations for a new Sig owner (P229) please fire away. Things that I have concerns about or just curious of are: (of course, all of your opinions are welcome...I know there are a lot of choices)

Best 9MM ammo for range and why. (under $0.30)
Best cleaning supplies and why. (hardware, and lube/grease, Money not issue here)
Best Home Defense Ammo and why. (Money not issue)
Best websites OR Best LGS on Oahu for ammo. to purchase ammo (based on inventory, customer service, cost)

Thank you for your input.

Welcome to the forum from Texas.
I prefer Federal LE Tactical HST for defensive rounds.
Range ammo, I just use Winchester White Box ( WWB )but it is a little more than thirty cents per round.

Hello, and Welcome. For your first handgun, you couldn't do much better. Unless of course, it was a 226. LOL!

Big Mahalo to all of you SigTalk Members

Gonna make some time to actually shoot my gun this week. Jeez, work, work, work. SOME people here in Hawaii actually do it. LOL.

Oh, and BTW, does anyone who lives here know of laws to shoot on your property? My parents live on about a little more than 1 acre (Residential neighborhood) but there are a few places where practicing would be safe.

Any suggestions on this? Legal repercussions?

Once again, all comments are greatly accepted.

Hpd

Bearone2,

HPD does cover all of Oahu. I will call them and find out, Just didn't want to get laughed at, scolded, or even 'put on watch'. You never know now adays.

P.S.-So why did you leave? Were you into firearms back then? (did you own any?)

Mahalo,

you definitely don't want to get in their sites.

we went to maui in '98 on a 10 year plan to get the youngest thru hs.
he graduated in '07 & we left in '09, rest of family on the mainland.

he graduated from ups/tacoma in '11, has a married brother in olympia & a married sister in phx.
