Hey Folks,

I'm new here but have had a P226 for quite some time and just love the heck out of it. I always poke around these forums for hints and tips so when a friend convinced me (he really twisted my arm, not really) to start a rifle build with a Sig 516 Gen 2 Short Stroke Gas Piston .223/5.56 AR upper receiver group for my build I knew where to go to ask for some help on the rest!

Would you all be kind enough to lend me some advice? I haven't set a budget or anything in stone so starting with the above I am open to any and all suggestions!

Almost any mil-spec AR lower will work, with forged lowers usually resulting in fewer fitment issues when compared to machined billet lowers.

Barrel and trigger quality are two primary concerns for overall satisfaction.

Get what you really want the first time around so you don't have regrets later.
