Yep, back to Sig. Every now and then a lemon slips out of the door and unfortunately, you were the recipient in this case.

Yup and the number of 380 autoloaders vs. 9mm that have issues is significantly higher. I'm just not sure why - size of parts and thus difficult to have proper QC/tolerances?Yep, back to Sig. Every now and then a lemon slips out of the door and unfortunately, you were the recipient in this case.
Especially when others like me haven't had any issues. Are you positive you reassembled it correctly, especially the recoil rod? Did you check to see if it functioned properly before you bought it? Seems strange that Sig would ship a gun with that obvious problem.
I disassembled, made sure it was properly lubed and tried the slide with out the barre. It did not move freely. It moved but I could feel resistance.Back to sig is wise.
Does the slide move easily on the frame without the barrel?
Does the barrel lock/unlock easily into the slide?
At this point ,, I really think you should send it back to Sig ..I disassembled, made sure it was properly lubed and tried the slide with out the barre. It did not move freely. It moved but I could feel resistance.
I am absolutely positive I assembled and lubed it properly. As I said I have the 365 and 365XL and they are identical Except size of course. The spring on my 365-380 has a red coating that looks like paint. The red paint chips do come off on the slide and barrel. Also when I reassembled I had to push down on a small lever in order to fully return the slide. Rather unusual as well. I do have the return label to ship it back. Also new out of the box I did not think to check that the slide fully closed. It was a gap about 1.5-2.0 MM so I may not have noticed. Now I know that is something To watch for. I have a Riger LCP II, and a Berta with never a failure of any kind with different 380 ammo. Never a failure with Glocks which I sold, This is a first more me and surprising. Will follow up after I get it back.Especially when others like me haven't had any issues.
Send us update when you get it back ..I am absolutely positive I assembled and lubed it properly. As I said I have the 365 and 365XL and they are identical Except size of course. The red paint on the spring is factory; identifies it as a 380. Also, the 380 spring is weaker and tuned to 380 ammo. I’m not sure, since I don’t have one but, that all may be normal for the 380.Update :I just shipped the 365-380 back to Sig and I am sure they will take care of the problem. Another bit of information. I checked how my 365 and 365 XL slides close in comparison. If I slowly pull back the slides approximately .25 to .50 inches and release the the closes fully instantly on both pistols. If I do the same on the new 365-380 the slide does not close. I can push it to full closure with my thumb. Could be a weak recoil spring? Also why the red like paint on the spring? It comes off in small chips around the slide channels. I have never experienced this and I own and have owned many semi auto?
Thanks Scarrier! Logic would dictate that in order for a slide to function properly there should be no dirt etc. on the slide rails. Because I have never had a failure like the 365-380 I am keenly interested in what I see and feel. A scientific Background can be a double edged sword. “always have to figure out cause-effect relationships on my own”. I am sure Sig will figure it out. Besides a weak or defective recoil spring I was considering that the tolerances between the slide may be very “tight” and causing further resistance. This why repeated cycling resolves some issues, along with proper cleaning and lube. I realize that the best mechanical/ electrical device will have occasional issues but this is a first for me with firearms. I have had a Bersa 380 for over 30 years and never a failure. Likewise my recent purchase of a Ruger LCP II. Would appreciate some feedback from experienced users. Thanks. JYah .. red mark is for P380 , , mine fell off all over but works fine ..
