365/365xl versatility

1285 Views 12 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  SMISSCCJ
I’ve had both for 6 or 7 months now. I like them both and shoot them well. I added a 320 compact along the way and am now in a conundrum. I’m having trouble justifying having the xl and 320 compact because there is a very slim margin between the two. Those that have both, or all three, do you gravitate to one in particular?

The trigger guard is different in the P320 compact and isn’t universal to other P320’s so I haven’t bought a 320 compact.
For most holsters both the 365 and the 365X can share. So in my thinking the P320 compact is the odd guy out.

I have the P365 and the XL as well and while I've never handled a P320 I'd seriously miss my Glock 19 if I didn't have a similar sized or larger alternative.

My standard model P365 is my EDC in a pocket holster with a 10 round flush magazine and as a civi who's unlikely to find himself in a gun fight I'm good with the compromises I have to make vs a larger gun. My XL has mostly become a training tool, but is also "the backup should i have to send it in to Sig, or god forbid I have to use it and the standard model is taken in as evidence.

It offers me the option of doubling up as well.. XL on the belt, p365 as a pocket BUG with a spare mag in the other pocket that works in both guns. Carrying one is enough of a chore for me but it's not a horrible option.

At least in my hands these tiny guns are not quite as easy to shoot as a bigger gun with a bigger grip. The grip on my G19 is just long enough to keep my hand from stopping a magazine from falling when i hit the mag release. There is SO much more surface area to get my support hand on for traction.

i have wilson combat grips on my P365 and they're still just tiny. I have to do weird things to really get my support hand on it. With a larger handgun my draw stroke is faster, my grip is more solid and in general, I'm going to have a much easier time shooting it.

The P365 platform makes for a great concealed carry piece and the standard model with a 10 round flush mag might be what I leave the house with but if i knew I was walking into a fight and I had to choose a handgun it would probably be my Glock 19, or if i had one a P320. Or I think I'd really enjoy something like one of these...

Anyway.. I think you have a decent EDC option in your P365's but.. I mean my evil suggestion is to skip the compact and look into something full sized.. I had a lot of fun breaking out a larger gun at my last couple of range visits after spending the last year focused on the P365 platform.

That being said even the P320 Compact has a bigger meatier grip than the little wonder gun's stack and a half.

I have the XL and the XCompact - I suffer no need for "justifying" either. Since I already have them I plan on keeping them until I need the storage space or the money to buy something else. I do gravitate (if that's the right word) to the XL because I like shooting it just slightly better that the XCompact mainly by virtue of the RDS I have on each. The XL has the Holosun 507k and the XCompact has the Romeo 1 Pro. I like the Holosun much better. I have a Hogue Handall grip on the XL that gives it nearly the same grip feel as the XCompact, at least as far as width goes. For me, the XL is right at the limit for size - any smaller would make it too small. Just for grins I tried handling the P365 .380 model a couple days ago. The grip on that one is so small that I could not easily transition my finger to the trigger without significantly loosening my grip.

Call me a moron, but please tell me which magazine fits reliably into both a 365 and a 365XL grip module without swapping floor plates? (Honest question, not intended to sound like a jackwagon.)

The one for the xl, the short base pad. There will be a gap when used in the p365.

I was in a similar conundrum to you. So instead of scraping the 320 compact I picked up, I decided to switch out the compact grip module to the carry grip mod. Which I'm so glad I did. It's super comfortable and It can hold up to 21 rounds with its extended mag, so it's now relegated to home defense/the range. Hope this helps.

Absolutely! I think that is where I am headed. I have the sig x compact grip and it’s very nice in the hand, but I recently got a WC grip for my 365 and that I believe is better. There is a WC carry module I believe.

I guess justify was not the best choice of words. I am just looking at ways to make the most efficient use of the handguns I have.

I was just yanking your chain. ;) The way I see it, 'collecting' guns is a lot like collecting art (tho', I'm not a collector, just an accumulator). You don't get rid of one piece just because you have gotten another, you hang onto it and occasionally take it out just to enjoy it as if it is something new. At some point, I guess, one might just decide "I really don't need/want all of these any more" but I'm not there yet.

All good sir! 👍🏻
