742 Views 13 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  flyguyskt
Okay this is for my education...

what optics for a 320 spectre comp and why? I do not understand this subject as I have zero pistol dot experience so dumb it down guys! like mounting plates?? huh the gun is cut for optic but what will mount directly, mounting plates etc???

I want this pistol to shoot competitions for fun, I understand it puts me into open class but I don't intend or have any expectation or desire to WIN...

Hit me with your best shots! no pun

Well I've been doing my own intense research and its a rabbit hole. Apparently the delta point will mount as will the Romeo 1 and PRO while retaining the factory sights...sounds like there are plates to buy for other optics. maybe a Cmore plate???

This is wild to me that this stuff is not just universal like a pic rail system on almost every modern sporting rifle...It should be a no brainer for the manufacturers to make this happen...less options to cut guns for means less cost of manufacturing...

Agreed, at least be consistent among one manufacturer! Worse yet, I finally found the correct plate from CHPWS but there's not any tall sights available, so now a new search continues for that. I can't stand blocked iron sights without a QR, it just looks like a poor set up (pun intended)
I'll jump in with my .02 ,I have experience with the Sig Romeo, Vortex and the Delta pro and the Delta pro to me is best. Rugged, great field of view and easy maintenance. I like shooting with both iron sights and red dot. You will only get used to the dot set up with practice but once you get it it's easy to aquire your target.
Here are the optics that will fit as Sig intended without mounting plates:

Trijicon RMR
Trijicon SRO
Leupold DPP Delta Point Pro
Sig Romeo 1Pro/Romeo 2 (but not the old romeo 1)

The order I put them in is also the order in which many might say are most durable & reliable

Backup sights only need to be visible thru the very bottom of the glass and some of the above optics have rear sight notches and/or optional add ons. Don't clutter up your optic's window with tall iron sights.

Will there be a gap front to back between the optic and the slide? (I'm waiting about 3 weeks on delivery and want to have everything else in hand by the time I get my SComp)
If you are running a Sig slide pre cut there should NOT be any gaps since it's a precise fit.

The Trijicon RMR ,and I believe the SRO, are a bit shorter front to back than the Sig Romeo 1P and Leupold DPP, so a filler plate is needed. CHPWS makes one but if it were me I'd look for one made by another company.

The only way to do that is to run a Sig pro optic, and that's an auto "no" for me.

Run the Delta point.

Run the Delta point.
I'm considering it, kinda partial to trijicons, just haven't had exposure to the DPP yet. Not a fan of any auto shut off stuff for now, that can change I suppose. Somewhat leaning towards an SRO, the DPP doesn't look horrible, but sig sold me then ruined me on the MOTAC auto shut off ****, it'll take a while for that to go away. The auto shut off is the main apprehension of the DPP
Take your time deciding since it's a small investment, get what YOU like and research.
I went with the Sig Pro for 4 reasons...it's NOT a duty gun or even a carry gun for me, it bolts on easily, the price I paid for mine was ridiculously cheap, lifetime warranty on all sig electro optics.
oh and on the SC you can use the rear cutout in the Pro with the top of the front sight , no you cannot see the green dot on the front sight but for emergency it will work.
