So this will be my first time flying with a handgun. Have flown with archery equipment and shotgun, but never with a handgun. I have property in SC, and have a non-resident CWP, so I'm licensed to have them there.

I have a couple SKB iSeries cases for the bow and shotguns, and decided to look at what they have available for the handgun. The size I was looking at in the iSeries was $109.

Hard to justify the SKB at 3x the cost of the HF with a 20% off coupon! With HF only 15 minutes away, I decided to check them out. As you can see from the following pictures, I decided to go with the HF case, well cases. I ended up buying the larger 3800 series as well for some camera equipment. Could pass up a good deal.

Now I just have to pick up a couple locks and should be all set. I downloaded the TSA requirements for flying with a handgun and should be all set.

Harbor Freight has Pelican clones by Apache at reasonable prices. Small, medium and large. Rifle cases just added.

Harbor freight is always kind of hit or miss on their products. Some are good some are great and some shouldn't be sold. Whew I have a tap and die set that is so soft the only thing it can put threads on is butter.

Having said that .. I ran into a piece of kit that I think is very well made. It is a pelican rip off and they have it in a variety of sizes. Only messed with it a little but the latches are nice and tight, it comes with little holes for a small lock and comes with a ton of foam so you can baby whatever you want to put in it. The hinges so far are stout and the plastic has nice ridges molded in to reinforce the box I posted it here because it may make a good travel box for that special gun so it doesn't get dinged up and its about as cheap as a good gun rug. YMMV .. just thought I would share.

There is a larger one in black and a smaller one than the one I bought. At least at the store but I dont see it on their website. I got the 2800.

I have a pelican that I bought years ago .. Honestly .. seems just as good. Using mine as a tool and junk box for my bike and its holding up well. Pretty sure I could cut the foam to fit two medium sized guns in one medium box. Those special guns you dont want to get trashed

Never saw any like that at the store close to Me in Katy . Must be something New. Got a drop down window from Them saying Very Limited Stock though. It just might work for some 35mm SLR camera lenses I have w/o a case/
